Happy New Year!

Here are some pictures from the last few days. We've just been hanging out for the most part. I really want to get our Christmas decorations taken down, but so far it hasn't happened...maybe tomorrow.

I can't believe tomorrow it will be 2008 - this year really seemed to fly by. It is especially crazy to think that at the start of 2007 I was still pregnant and now Addie is nearly a year old. What a difference a year makes!
I haven't made New Year's Resolutions in years, but this year I think I'm going to sit down to think of some good ones (and force Mike to do them with me). I'll keep you posted on how that goes :-).

Christmas Day

It was great to see Ella's reaction this year on Christmas morning...

Addie had to finish breakfast before really being able to enjoy all the fun.
Ella was most excited about the candy in her stocking.
Ella picked out this toy for Addie all by herself and showed her just what to do with it.
I struggled to find things for Addie - since she really doesn't need anything and prefers to play with Ella's toys anyway. I have misplaced most our baby spoons so I stuck a couple in her things and it ended up being one of her favorite gifts - she carried it with her all morning long :-)!

Addie always makes me laugh when she does her upside down thing...she loves to hang upside down off our legs too - she's much more of a daredevil than Ella was.
We went over to my parents' for brunch later in the morning...My dad is not an animal lover (or so he says) but animals are always drawn him. This is Kayley's dog Texas (I can't say I'm his biggest fan either).
A new headband (and outfit) from Nana and Grandad means we needed more modeling pictures for my mom's website.
My mom taught Ella to write her name while we were all watching a Christmas movie (I think it was called Deck the Halls). She is so proud of herself and writes her name on everything now - she is getting so big! Today was her last day of nursery at church...crazy!!!

Kayley and her boyfriend Scott babysat the girls later in the day so we could go with all the adults to see The Great Debaters. I thought it was really good - I'm a sucker for movies inspired by true stories. We played scum later that night and the next night played a Christmas version of Monopoly at our house (we all prefer the regular version)...

Christmas Eve part 2

We went back to our house to start our little family's own festivities...beginning with the opening of their one Christmas Eve present...
Christmas Eve jammies...
Ella loves to have matching pajamas so she was thrilled they had the same ones :-).
Scoping out the presents for the morning - Ella shows Addie which ones are hers.
Addie's favorite Christmas activity this year was pulling things off the tree. I was truly amazed at some of things she managed to reach. Here are just a couple attempts from Christmas Eve night...

Ecstatic to be enjoying the results of her hard work! Yum!
We went and dropped off a Secret Santa gift at someone's house and drove around to look at Christmas lights for a little while before heading back home for bed. Addie was exhausted so we put her down and let Ella help get Santa's treats ready.
I was worried she wouldn't go to sleep right away because she was so excited about Santa coming but luckily it had been a long day (and a no nap day too) so she went right down.

I'm going to try to post the Christmas day pictures later today - we'll see how it goes.

Christmas Eve part 1

Here are the highlights of our Christmas Eve:
Ella and Addie playing together that morning. It is so cute to see them actually be able to interact a little bit (although Addie obviously still can't really "play") - just last night we were driving around and Ella and Addie were in the backseat holding hands and laughing - so cute :-)!
Christmas Eve dinner at my grandparents' house. My grandma always has these big poppers that you "pop" open to find a prize inside AND your very own crown too - it makes for a great picture when we all look so silly.
Time to open some presents...

Kayley and Addie looking festive together.

Addie trying to peek inside and see what her present was.
Aunt LeeLee gave Ella her first Barbie (a princess). Ella held it really close to her face just looking at it and said, "She's real, real beautiful!"
Just reading her Dora book while everyone else continued the gift exchange (something funny must have happened!).

I had to put this one of my grandfather - my grandma gave him 2 remote control helicopters so that he could do them with a friend :-).

San Antonio Christmas

Be prepared for some long posts these next few days as I try to recap our Christmas. Here is the first one:

We celebrated Christmas early in San Antonio with Mike's fam. Mike golfed almost everday, I did a lot of reading, and the girls got lots of attention with so many people to play with...
Ella helping Chrissy and Brittany with the cookies our first night there.

Addie and Ella each got to open a present early so they could enjoy them all during our visit.
Mike testing out Chrissy's scooter, "Kirby."
I love this picture of Mike and Addie - they are both so cute!
Mike somehow managed to sprain his ankle playing golf :-) - luckily not too badly - although it is still swollen.
Ella enjoying more Freeman cookies! (she loves that Freeman family nightly tradition!)
Brittany and Ili took Chloe, Ella AND Addie to go see a gingerbread house exhibit (which I don't have the pictures from yet) and so Mike and I were able to enjoy a lunch date! It was fabulous!

A day in the life of Addie - everyone just can't resist getting you!
One of our "girl hugs" - Ella loves them.
Ella with Brittany and her boyfriend Ili. They gave her the card game Crazy 8's and played it with her over and over and over again!
Ella was helping Addie open her presents and when she saw this box became very concerned because "Addie can't eat chocolate!"
This little doll was hiding inside the box.
Quiet time with Meema.
Addie leans into for more kisses and cuddles - so we know she at least kind of likes to be loved :-).
Addie and the toothpick:

We drove home Sunday night to be back in our own house for Christmas Eve...more to come later :-).
