Our Very First Gingerbread House

So, we made our first gingerbread house and now have some knowledge about the best way to do it for next year when we try again. Ella thought it was great fun although she did have a very hard time resisting the urge to eat all the candies and frosting as we built it.
We followed the instructions on the box and put the house together first...
Then found it was really hard to decorate it when it is already in house form...
So we took it apart to decorate all the different sides first...
And then put it back together again. If you didn't notice, Ella was into posing for her pictures yesterday.
It may not be the prettiest house ever, but not too bad for our first attempt :-)!
(and yes, it was December 8th and Ella is wearing a tank top and shorts - our high was 83! We broke the record of 82)

oh my goodness. i wish we had a little of your warm weather!! today our car was covered in a sheet of ice after we had freezing rain last night (it's a nice addition to the crunch mounds of snow everywhere). 80s!!!???

i love the gingerbread house! it looks very professional. last year we did graham cracker houses with friends, which was also fun. this year we'll be lucky if we get a christmas tree before we head out of town for the holidays! crazy.
