Hooray for Janna!

I was put in charge of finding the photographer for Kayley's wedding, which was actually turning out to be quite stressful! I wasn't having much luck finding someone with the style we wanted and I emailed Janna, my friend from my Uganda study abroad, to get some advice and ask about prices to look for since she does amazing photography in Orlando. She mentioned possibly coming out to do the wedding herself and my mom, sister and I all jumped right on that :-)! I have long admired Janna's pictures and secretly wished that I had her talent. We are so excited! It is so nice to know we won't have to worry about how the pictures will turn out! Hooray for Janna!

Hooray for Summer!

I pretty much love everything about living in the nice warm climate of Houston, TX. Are the summers long and hot? YES! But all that means is that you play at the park all winter and in the summer you play at the pool instead. Addie went from being terrified of the water to LOVING it during our past few pool days. Ella loves being in the water, but in her typical nature stays right on the steps where she can touch. Today she did venture out holding the side of the pool a little past the steps and I made a big deal about how proud I was of her and how brave she was, but so far no letting me pull her into the pool in her floaty. We'll work on that as the summer moves along. Katy schools had their last day today and Mike actually has one more week of school left. We are all looking forward to a nice relaxing summer with more time together! Isn't it funny to think that teachers are just as excited as students for the summer to come around - I NEVER considered that when I was in school :-).
Oh, funny story, the pool today was across the street from an Elementary School and lots of ecstatic kids were leaving the building right when I was loading everything in our car. There was an SUV Limo in front of the school picking up some group of kids from their last day! Can you believe that? They are in elementary school! Crazy parents!
Anyway, in typical fashion here are lots of pictures from the past couple days (I won't be taking pictures EVERY time we swim, but for now it is still a little new and exciting for us all):

Wouldn't it be nice if we all looked this cute in our swimsuits?! These ones are for Chrissy, who I know was secretly disappointed Addie was happy in the last pictures of the girls together :-)...

Ella and her boyfriends, Andrew and Johnny.

Addie suddenly became very popular when she sat down for a snack - Avery and Eva didn't take long to notice! I turned around from Addie and saw Sheree with FIVE kids in the water :-) - I had to get a picture.

After 2 hours today Addie was wiped out (she quickly fell asleep on the drive home) and Ella wanted to stay and "keep practicing" on her steps :-). If only she knew how much time we'd be spending in pools in the months to come!
Oh, and I keep forgetting to post this picture of my NUMBER ONE BLOG FAN :-). Everyday Ella sits and looks at my blog. She knows to click on "older posts" at the bottom of the page and has a grand time watching videos and looking at pictures of herself and Addie :-).

Lost is definitely the show I most look forward to each week and we just finished the season sad. I love that it is like watching a little movie each week and hate that at the end of each episode I feel slightly more confused than when it began. I had know idea who Jeremy was going to be at the end of the episode (I won't spoil it for those who have yet to watch) but it definitely caught me off guard! How do they expect us to wait months and months and months to find out more?! If you don't watch Lost, my advice is to start at the beginning and catch up before next season - you won't regret it! (and it does get less sci-fi feeling after the first 2 seasons)

And my selections are....

So, I had some requests to let everyone know what I ended up choosing from The Frog and The Princess with my gift certificate and I just placed my order! After looking through lots of fun items (the ones I pictured earlier, cute tutus, a necklace for me, etc.), I decided to get Ella a new blanket. I still had some money left so I threw in the pink butterfly wand too :-).My Grandma made Ella her quilt (aka: blanket or blankie) before she was born and it was the one thing she really bonded with. She has slept with it EVERY night since she was a little baby. As a result it has had to endure many washings and despite Nana's best efforts to keep it together in one piece, it is reaching the end of it's little life span. Recently when I told Ella that we may have to look for a new one she told me, "But I LOVE my blankie!" She helped me pick out this new one and I think it will be perfect for her (not to mention super cute AND free!). She loves to run her little fingers all around the edges of it and since the new one has the little border it should be a great match! We'll see :-). Here are some pictures of Ella bonding with her blanket as a baby and the current condition of her beloved buddy.

"She's My Best Friend"

Ella has been trying my patience a lot the past couple days, but she has also said some really cute things. My favorite was when while talking about Addie she told me, "She's my best friend!"

Enjoying our first popscicles of the summer season and cleaning off in the sprinkler. Addie actually stuck her popscicle in the sprinkler causing it to fall off - quite sad. Ella was nice enough to feed her the pieces (and of course ate some herself).

Play time with Daddy...Hide and Seek and perfecting the "catch"

And lastly, playing in the rain yesterday. Addie LOVED it and Ella eventually joined in so I would take her picture too :-). It was lightly raining for awhile and we played in it and then went back in the house. It started POURING and Addie was crying by the door to go back I let her and she had a blast!

Addie managed to climb in the laundry basket without tipping it over. Mike found her just chilling in there :-).
Other things Ella has said recently:
* She came over pointing to a new scrape on her knee and said, "Mommy, I want to show you something. My body is falling apart!"
* She tried to compliment Mike's Grandma while we were in San Antonio by telling her that the color of a vein in her leg was her "favorite color"
* I told her something and she replied, "That's probably true."
* Overheard while the girls were playing, "Addie, it just hurts my feelings when you don't listen."
(I wonder where she heard those last two! It definitely helps to remind you how important it is to watch what you say when it is so obvious they are absorbing EVERYTHING they hear!)
And Addie says "Woah" all the time - I love it! For example, if a loud truck drives by while we are in the car she says, "WOAH!"
