Not Even Nap Worthy

Since church doesn't start until 2pm, on Sundays I give the girls their bath after lunch so they are nice and clean when it's time to go (and they get to take their bath in my tub, which they think is a BIG treat). It was pretty chilly (for us) today so when I went to find something warm and cozy but not too cute just for Addie to take her nap in before getting ready for church I figured THE Elmo outfit was perfect. She once again did not want to put the jacket on...I have no idea why...the pants are just as hideous in my opinion and she seems to have no problem with those. I told her it was just for sleeping and buttoned it up and tucked her in. She was mad for a little while in her room but fell asleep eventually and when I went to wake her up to get ready (we are SO excited for a new church time come January!) this is how I found her...
She had tried her very best to get the ugly Elmo jacket/shirt off and partly succeeded. Poor Addie. I won't ever try to make her wear it again :-)!
And here are the girlies before church...Addie was still out of it and her hair was permanently frazzled :-).

Our Little Who (and Thanksgiving Too)

Wednesday Mike rotated the tires on our car...I must admit that I was quite impressed :-). Addie and I were in the backyard and it didn't take long for her to go and try to help him. Maybe she has a future as a mechanic...she even got a little greasy in the process.

That night I didn't feel like doing much of anything so I gave the girls princess soup, in the family room, while they watched the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. I knew it was a bad idea, soup is messy in the high chair for Addie, let alone sitting at the coffee table, but Wednesday was the worst day of my cold (I was VERY scared it was turning into a sinus infection), and I knew it would keep them busy for awhile. Addie quickly ate all hers so I gave her a little more and went back in the kitchen to figure out what I was in the mood for. I heard Ella freaking out and went in to find Addie performing her own little science experiment. She was dispersing her soup into the 4 Sesame Street cups she had brought down from their play kitchen...and making quite a mess in the process. I'm hopeful she at least learned something :-).

Happy Thanksgiving!!! My family decided to hit a restaurant this year for our big dinner and it was such a good idea. We were hoping for some Mexican food, but the day before we called EVERY Mexican restaurant in the area (and there are TONS of them) and not one was open on Thanksgiving...I guess we're the only weirdos who would rather have enchiladas than turkey on the big day. We ended up at Black-Eyed Pea and it was delicious...plus no cooking or clean-up required. The only downside is not being able to enjoy leftovers.

All the girls took naps when we got home, me included, (and we are all feeling much, much better now-hallelujah!) and Mike went and played some free golf on the course near our house. When Addie woke up her little ponytails were sticking straight back and she reminded me of one of the little Whos from How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

That evening my family came over to play Scum and eat the yummy pies and ice cream my grandparents brought. Addie even discovered Scott's leftover pie and earned herself some extras :-). She sat very quietly eating it hoping that no one would discover her and take it away. (and in case anyone is wondering, I lost BIG time at Scum...not so fun for me) I hope everyone had a fun day yesterday! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Ella's Thanksgiving Feast

Tuesday was Ella's Thanksgiving Feast and program at preschool. She had been really excited about it so we cut our San Antonio trip a little short so we could be back for it and then she just really wasn't into it. She did have fun at the "feast" though and LOVED having Mike come to her school and her classroom, so it was still worth it in the end. The girls and I have just been slightly miserable with these lingering colds which will hopefully leave us alone soon enough.

This was the most participation we got out of Ella:

The rest of the songs went something like this:

It Can Only Get Better

So, I just read this (apparently I'm a little behind my movie news):

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES TWILIGHT SEQUEL - NEW MOON
Los Angeles, CA November 22, 2008 — Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of NEW MOON, the second installment of its filmed franchise TWILIGHT, the action-packed, modern day vampire love story. The movie will be based on the second novel in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series titled, New Moon. The first movie in the TWILIGHT franchise, the self-titled TWILIGHT, arrived in theaters this weekend to sold-out showings.

Stephenie Meyer stated, "I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment. I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on NEW MOON."

It can only get better, right?! And I'm up for another crazy night when it comes out :-).

The Rest of San Antonio

Thank you Chrissy for letting me steal your pictures :-). Here are photos of the rest of our weekend in San Antonio...

Addie cried nearly the entire dinner (whether I held her or not). I don't know if it was because she was over-tired, had a cold, had just driven in the car for 3 hours or was overwhelmed by all the people...probably all of the above.

Mike entertaining one and all with his cool physics tricks....oh, the perks of being married to a physics man :-)!

Meema's pine cone activity was a hit with Ella and now we have our entire little family represented by turkeys for the holiday.

Why You Shouldn't Buy Presents Too Early...

...especially for a not-even-2 year old!

Remember how Addie fell in LOVE with this bear awhile ago? (here is one of the videos to remind you)

Well, Mike's parents said they would get the bear for her for Christmas, but their Sam's Club didn't have it. Their Costco, however, had a similar bear rug and they got that instead. I also bought the bear at Sam's for them (not knowing about the rug yet) and hid it away in an extra closet. So, we brought our bear along with us to San Antonio this trip to give to them and they were planning on taking the rug back. (sorry, I realize this story is getting really long) We ended up bringing out the bear rug Saturday night and Addie wanted NOTHING to do with it...at all!!! I was surprised, but Addie was being a weirdo that night (more on that later) and it wasn't THE bear after all. I was getting nervous about her reaction though so the next day we brought our big bear out of the car and she had the same response...a "Get it AWAY from me!" attitude. We decided to return both bears and Meema and Papa will have to come up with something else. I just couldn't believe Addie didn't want it though after being SO in love with it at the store that day. Today I decided to give it one more try. I thought maybe now that we're back at our home and back on our routine, etc. but it's still a no-go. I guess we won't buy in advance for our little stinker anymore!

Amazing Pictures by Chrissy

We just got back from our early Thanksgiving celebration in San Antonio with Mike's family. Ili (Britt's hubby) had to leave for Air force survival training Sunday morning so we had our turkey dinner Saturday night when the whole family could be together. I didn't take one picture the whole weekend...partly because I wasn't feeling too great (I've got a bad/annoying cold courtesy of Addie) and partly because the house is full of photographers :-). I'm hoping to steal some pictures from Chrissy soon, but in the mean time I have to share some of these. Yesterday we went down to the Riverwalk to eat dinner before heading back home and Chrissy so kindly agreed to take some pictures of our family for me (I need to get going on my Christmas cards). Here are some of her favorites. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them all! Thank you SO much :-)!!!! (and plese see the Christmas Card note on the sidebar!)
