Our Own Gnome

Today Addie looked like a Travelocity Gnome and she started the day with some mischief. We were all downstairs and Addie went upstairs to play. She had been up there awhile and it was quiet, but she often goes to play Barbies by herself for long periods of time so we didn't think anything of it...until we came upstairs and found she had discovered a new pack of gum.

Our gum is usually in the fridge since everything melts in Houston, but last night I had opened a new pack and left if sitting by the computer. Addie obviously found it and opened every single piece, giving most of them a try in the process.
Mike hasn't been tutoring as much recently, which isn't necessarily a great thing (especially since our monthly insurance doubles this year so we have better coverage for when I have the baby), but it does mean we have a lot more free time together. Today we took advantage and went to see his high school's basketball team play. They (the Bush Broncos) are ranked 12th in the state right now and were playing #18. After watching Mike play church basketball last night, this was quite an improvement (no offense to anyone who was playing last night)! I was thoroughly impressed by how good these kids were. The game was pretty close throughout and there were some great moments, including multiple dunks by our team and once when one of our players was dribbling around killing time and was so quick with his moves he actually made his defender fall over himself (the crowd loved that). In the end the Broncos won! We also found out that our whole family gets in free to the games, not just Mike, so we'll definitely be taking better advantage of that :-)!

We say, "Addie, come here, let's get in the car." and she says (probably better described as yells) "Walk!" and sprints away. Really, she is a good listener most of the time :-)!

I would have never thought to leave gum in the fridge, but it makes total sense! I love the stories about Addie. It reminds me of Jacob's mischief, too. I forgot how hard this age is. It's amazing how quick these little ones can get into things!

I'm laughing because my gum never tastes good to me when I leave it in the car (in the winter) because it's so rock hard frozen when I try to eat it. But you purposely put it in the fridge?

And I love the pics of Addie the gnome - that sweater is really cute. Eli's sitting here looking at pictures with me and kept pointing at your blog because he liked it!

I'm shocked that you didn't find gum in her hair, on the floor, etc., etc. Why to train your girls to control their messes!
