Saturday Night Lights

This weekend Mike had the brilliant idea to go to the Katy Tigers football game. He is always coming up with fun stuff for us to do!
Not only was it a football game in Texas, but they are also the reigning state champions, ranked 1st in the state again this year and 4th in the nation...so this was extra exciting.
I got everyone dressed in their red and white and we were off. We thought getting there an hour before game time would be sufficient, but we encountered this line moving towards the stadium.

We made it, we parked, we were excited and ready to go!

Then we saw this...SOLD OUT...

and thought that may be the end of our night until we realized you could still buy tickets on the visitors side of the stadium. Crisis averted!
The girls admired the cheerleaders while Mike waited in line to buy tickets.

Finally we made it inside and found seats...and quickly realized why the home side is much better...no sun in your eyes :-). It didn't last too long though and the sunset was amazing that night.

Let the game begin! The stadium was VERY red!

I love Preston's milk mouth. After a quick nap he was ready to go for the rest of the night!

The game was tied at 7-7 pretty much the whole time. The sun went down. The half time show came and went. Still 7-7. Addie fell asleep.

We layed her on the bench next to us at first and then when the people in front of us left during the 4th quarter we moved her to their bench so we had more room.
Near the end of the game something exciting happened, everyone was standing and there was a lot of cheering. The next thing I know the woman sitting in the row in front of where Addie was laying is holding her up to us asking, "Is this your baby?!?!" and Addie is screaming with blood all over her mouth.
She had startled awake, fallen off the bench to the concrete and busted her little lip open.
It was awful.
I felt like a terrible mom for not even noticing she had fallen.
We went from this...to this...
so much for our fun, happy night.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
After rinsing off her mouth in the bathroom it was clear it wasn't serious, but Addie was screaming. (and Ella was crying at this point too) I got her ice from the first aid station, which made her scream more and we left with only a couple minutes left in the still 7-7 game.
Mike was sure the game would go into overtime and he could watch the end at home, but Katy ended up pulling out the victory, winning 9-7. At least it was a happy ending for the Tigers.
Poor Adeline. It looks MUCH better already...don't worry!

Lessons learned...night football games are better as date nights. With 3 little ones and only 2 of us it was a little hard to manage...especially when it is WAY past bedtime.

CRAZY!!!

Photobucket
We have been CRAZY busy over here (you know how true that is when I don't even make time to blog for a day),
but it has been with fun stuff!
This morning everyone slept in after an action packed weekend and I was thinking about how I would have to blog today about how nice it is for Ella to ride the bus so I can leave Preston and Addie sleeping in their beds while I walk her out the door...and then we missed the bus...
boy do I appreciate it more than ever now!!! :-)
It was completely my fault. I thought of this hair-do while going to sleep last night and HAD to do it even though we were running late.
Ella wasn't upset about it (I was mainly worried she would get thrown off by the sudden change in plans) but it did cause quite a rushed morning. I woke up the other two and got them dressed quickly because we also had a doctor's appointment for Preston right after Ella had to be at school (not to mention our weekly grocery shopping to do as well).
Photobucket
I haven't touched the pictures from our Saturday adventure (and resulting Addie trauma), but last night we surprised Dave and Stephanie with a BBQ at Allie and Jeremy's house. They are leaving Houston...the nerve...so Allie had us and the Allens over for one last hurrah!

What's So Funny?!

We almost missed the bus the day before, but never fear, we were back on track with time to spare for pictures yesterday.
We had taken a couple pics when Preston started laughing really hard for some reason.
We don't know what started it, but it sure made me and Ella laugh too :-)!

Some of my favorite conversations from Ella's first week of school:

"Hey mom, guess what? If you forget my lunch it's ok because they have food at my school. "
"Do you want to buy lunch there sometimes?" (I'm so perceptive)
"YES!!!"
(she came back to me a few minutes later)"They have ice cream there too!"

"Do you sit with someone on the bus or do you sit by yourself?"
"I sit by myself. Then there is space for me and my stuff."

In Preston news, he has really become so much more fun and interactive these past few days. He squeals and laughs when I kiss his little neck and hold him up in the air, etc. For me this is when it really starts to be fun, when their little personalities come out. He's getting much better at grabbing his hanging toys too and still loves watching Ella and Addie play. He is such a happy little guy! You can't help but smile and laugh when he gives you his big goofy grin!

Happy

My house is still a mess today and I'm still tired, although I'm slowly catching back up, but I still feel like some major things were accomplished today and that makes me very happy!
Almost as happy as these pictures from yesterday afternoon...

This morning I met with 4 other moms to figure out a little mini-school system for our 5 little girls who will all enter kindergarten the same year. I am hoping this year meeting one day a week and doing our own "curriculum" goes well and they will all be game to do Joy School next year. Then the following year Addie can do one year of actual preschool before she starts Kindergarten like Ella did.
We decided to pick a subject matter for each month to base the lessons and activities on and then we can incorporate learning letters, numbers, etc. in to each theme.
I'm really excited about the topics! The girls are going to have a blast!
September: Seasons/Weather
October: The Senses
November: The Body
December: Food
January: Colors
February: Feelings
March part 1: Fairytales
March/April: Transportation/The World
April part 2: Shapes

So Far, So Good

Ella is still in love with school, and the bus rides. So far we have been up and ready on time, but 7:50am sure comes quickly!
Addie tries to get on the bus with Ella in the morning and confirms with me during the day that "Ella is at school?" We've been so busy during the days this first week though that I don't think she has had too much time to miss her. Between playdates, church activities, a visit from Meema, an afternoon with Nana and today 4 of her little friends coming over while the moms try to organize a little mini-school for them, the long days have passed quickly.
It has been fun to see Addie pay a little more attention to Preston though. He is sleeping SO much better and starting to fall into a slightly more predictable nap routine. One of these days we'll all be on a schedule! Preston and I are heading to Utah next weekend for Brooke's wedding, so I think once we get back I'll really try to figure it all out.
The pictures of the week so far...

Ella was so excited this first morning for the bus and was talking up a storm as we waited for it. The same child who I was so worried about leaving in a classroom the day before jumped right on the bus without even looking back to wave bye! Riding the bus has been a life long dream for her though. She was probably around Addie's age when we began promising her that when she turned 5 she could ride the bus, and the day finally arrived!

Watching the bus drive away with her on it all by herself was definitely a little scary for me. We do love our bus driver though which helps!

We spent the morning at the church making cards and then hurried home to meet up with Meema and Papa who came into town for some work for the day. We then rushed off to meet Mike for lunch near his school.

Diane is now an official blogger, so she took plenty of pictures to document the trip...which means I get some extras for my blog too.

It was time to wait for Ella's arrival before we knew it! She came home safe and sound, although a little sweaty.

a picture of me taking the above picture...how nice to have another perspective of it all :-)...just think if someone could follow me around taking pictures everyday!

That evening I went to an orientation for the Two-Way Immersion program and then to the curriculum night in her actual classroom. I love that I now know Ella's daily schedule so at any given time I can picture what she is doing at school. Ella was glad that we finally knew which days she has gym so she could wear her favorite dress the next day :-)!
