Whenever I Want To!

I personally love schedules and routines, but recently I feel like ALL day EVERY day I am trying to get here by this time and there by that time. It starts to get exhausting!
Yesterday morning I decided, you know what, I'm just doing whatever I want today whenever I want!
So, Ella didn't go to school...which meant she didn't need to be done eating by a certain time and dressed and waiting for the bus by a certain time. (it also meant I didn't have to volunteer that afternoon...both her teachers were gone for a meeting anyway, right?!)
We lounged in our jammies watching TV. I made pancakes for breakfast and we lounged some more...still in our jammies.

Preston took a nice long morning nap and we didn't wake him up...because we didn't HAVE to be anywhere. The girls played on the computer, I took my time getting ready and when Preston woke up, we headed to the library.
(notice the cute hair clips...the big one is from Hannah Andersson, I fell in love and HAD to have it...and my mom made the little one...I thought she bought it!)

We didn't go to story time (although it's been a month since the kids have been) and just got there when we could to pick out our new books. The librarians, especially Venitha, were relieved to know we were all alive still and made up for lost time with plenty of attention (they couldn't believe how big Preston seemed now).
(we tried for awhile to get all 3 kids to look at me...and eventually gave up)

We went to Target to get lunch (using coupons of course :-) and browsed the toy aisles...because we weren't in a rush to get anywhere.

Preston even sat for the first time in the big boy seat of the shopping cart.
(my camera battery actually died at the library but I was able get a few more pictures out of it. The cart one was the last straw though, so that's as good as we get to document the occasion)

We stopped by Nana's to pick up a present I ordered and say hello. We did rush out of there a little bit because Preston needed to get home for a nap (and that is one schedule we need to stick to).

It was nice and relaxing and freeing to not be on anyone else's schedule but our own!
Heading out the door that evening for kickboxing made me remember just why living by the clock wears me down after awhile. It's stressful trying to have everyone ready and in the car and on our way to get where we need to be on time.
We do get an awful lot more done that way, but I think we'll have a free day more often!

My Monday Hero

We had a full day planned Monday morning. We got Ella off to school and then Addie, Preston and I ran out the door to get to the morning spin class on time. I pulled the car out of the garage and thought something seemed weird. Upon inspection I found the front passenger tire was COMPLETELY flat...down to the rim flat...you can't drive anywhere on it flat.

The good news is that Kayley had the morning off work and was going to meet us at the gym for the class. She was able to pick us up and off we hurried to the gym...only to find all the bikes taken all ready...SO annoying! We went on the ellipticals instead and she called around to find some tire help for me (thanks Kay!).
With Mike at work and my dad out of town, my grandfather happily headed over to my house to be my hero :-).
The plan was just to put the spare tire on. I would drive on that to go to Ella's school to volunteer and then after picking up Addie and Preston from April's house, I would take care of the tire problem.
Frog (aka: grandfather) got to work taking off the flat and putting the spare on.

We found the darn little culprit that caused all the drama.

And got the spare put on...but guess what?! The spare was COMPLETELY flat too!!!

I called April, who kindly agreed to switch volunteering days with me. Then my grandfather really went above and beyond with his helping!
He took our flat tire to TWO different locations, neither of whom would fix it because of the location of the nail. He called and told me we needed a new tire and then took the flat to Sam's Club, purchased a new tire for us, waited while they put it on the wheel (I don't know if I'm using correct terminology here) and then brought it back to my house AND put the new tire on the car!
He had some extra help this time around :-).

THANK YOU GRANDFATHER, for spending your whole Monday in our service!!!
We LOVE you!!!
