Preston's "First" Hair Cut

(with the clippers anyway)
He's been needing it forever and I've been scared to try them out on him, but Saturday morning I finally got to work. It wasn't going too well...until we got the popsicle...then it was easy going :-).

Scoping it Out

One of my friends asked me to take a group picture of her whole extended family next weekend while they are all in town together. She had a specific spot in mind so yesterday morning we went to check it out and take some pictures of our cute kiddles :-). We got there later than I had wanted to and it was already getting HOT at 9:30am, but the kids had a blast exploring...they did NOT want to take pictures.

After touching the water Preston was ready to back right on in like he does at the pool.
Photobucket
Too bad Ella wouldn't smile :-(!
Photobucket
Preston tried to show her how easy it is.
Photobucket
But we still didn't get much.

The story behind these pictures...
I got the girls sitting where I wanted when Ella spotted a bee on the ground...never mind that it was helplessly stuck on it's back, they could not forget about it for a moment to take a picture. I still tried, until Ella nearly started crying, then I gave up :-).

Just a Hunch

This is not going to be a summer of blogging for me I have realized.
I am staying very busy keeping up with these 3 kids and still trying to keep the house in some sort of order. The good news for me is that time away from the computer has led me to be much more productive in other ventures...
like putting the pictures in Preston's baby book finally.
This week was filled with lots more swimming, movie dates, trips to the libraries, errands, the gym and school time. That is pretty much exactly what I had hoped the summer would be (with the exception of course of the girls driving each other, and me, crazy), so I'm happy and feeling like life is in order.

On Tuesday Grammy took Ella on a date to the movies to see Marmaduke. Ella was talking about it for days leading up to the event and had so much fun. Addie was pretty jealous though...She's just about old enough to start having her very own movie dates too :-).

The only picture of Preston from the week.
He was sleeping tons as a result of being sick and growing (from what I could tell), but then he started to get off schedule. We would put him in his crib at 7:30pm and he would be in there talking for an hour. Yesterday we kept him up longer than he wanted to be during the day (which was hard because he was so grumpy I just wanted to let him go to sleep) and he went right down last night, so here's hoping he's back on track.
In other 13 1/2 month Preston news...he is still obsessed with cars, likes to color, said and signed banana yesterday (well, he said "nana") and is by far our weirdest eater yet. He doesn't eat tons and whenever he seems to like something I'm always excited. Then after a few days he wants nothing to do with it anymore though. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that when more teeth come in he'll be more accepting of food in general. Preston is still independent and busy. He runs around all day and as soon as he sees his blankie and pacifier in his crib he wants to get in and crash. And lastly, he throws fits whenever he doesn't get what he wants or gets his feeling hurt. Oh, Preston :-)!

Wednesday we picked up our trophies for completing the summer reading program at one of our libraries (we live right on the border of 2 counties, so we take advantage of both of their summer reading programs...what kid doesn't like trophies?!). The girls wait all year to get their trophies...seriously. Ella will happily tell you she has 6 trophies now (2 from soccer and 4 from this library) and Addie has 3...which they think is awesome because they each have as many trophies as years they are old.

Now if only it wasn't so bright outside for Ella :-).
(Addie is obsessed with the color purple...and cats of course. I just got those plaid shorts for Ella but Addie wanted to wear them and when I cinched in the adjustable waist, they actually kind of fit her! The first time they are sharing clothes :-)

The other big event we have all been looking forward to is seeing Toy Story 3! The Toy Story movies are some of my favorite animated movies and we have been so excited to all go see it together! Grammy came with us too which made it even more fun and we headed to the Alamo to see it in 3D. The girls thought it was SO cool to eat pizza while they watched their movie! (this is Thursday)

And lastly on Friday at our favorite library the kids got to pick out a new book to keep as their reward for that summer reading program. It was a big decision! They had lots of good ones to choose from and Ella took the decision seriously. She sat and looked through her top 4 picks for quite awhile before deciding which one she wanted to keep. Addie also had a few different cat books to choose from, but they were both happy with their choices :-).

Boring post over :-).
One more week of summer down and now we are counting down the days until our trip to the beach. I can't wait! I have new books ready to read and am hoping for some relaxation and fun time with my family! And some better pictures to post too.

Pool Practice

Look at this improvement!!! Ella, with her face in the water?!?!
This is huge for us and she is actually really excited to take swim lessons now! I think she will catch on really quickly and be a fish in no time.
Photobucket
Addie and Preston love playing in the water too. During "adult swim" (aka: break time for the life guards) it is nearly impossible to keep him out of the water. We LOVE the pools...especially when Mike gets to come with us!
(and yes, Ella's goggles are way too big on her, but she still loves them)

Daddy Time

We had a nice, relaxing, and low-key Father's Day which is just how Mike likes things :-). The girls couldn't wait to give Mike the presents they picked out all on their own and tell him about the pretty pictures they made for him.

Preston has been having a growth spurt and a cold on top of that, which has made for a sleepy, and sometimes grumbly little guy. He slept through most of the Father's Day festivities and then wanted to be right with me when he was awake. This is where he ended up sitting while I finished cleaning up the kitchen. Silly Preston :-).
