Trunk or Treat

This was our family's first year to go to the ward trunk or treat! For some reason our ward always does it on actual Halloween night so we always have done our own thing with family instead, but with Halloween on Sunday it worked out perfectly this year. Preston quickly caught on to people giving him candy, but he never understood why I wasn't opening them and giving them to him to eat immediately :-). I think he definitely likes Halloween though, even if I dressed him up like a frog! The girls had tons of fun, we may have to go again next year.
Earlier in the day we made mummy dogs for lunch and then sugar cookies, which we never got around to frosting :-). We just used the tube of Pilsbury dough and homemade ones sure taste better. The girls didn't care though, they just had fun rolling out the dough and making their Halloween shapes.

Then it was time to get all dressed up and head to the party. On our way to the church we stopped and took some pictures of the kids in their costumes. Preston was NOT having it. My dream of getting a good picture of our princess Tiana with her little frog may not come to be afterall. We've got one more chance tonight.

Even though Preston wasn't cooperating, don't you think he looks frog-like in this picture? :-)

We arrived at the church ready to start trunk-or-treating and then found out the evening was beginning inside. There was pizza and a cakewalk, but there were so many kids in the cakewalk (the activity was 2 wards combined) it was hard for the kids to even walk around the circle. I think the girls still had fun doing it though, especially since everyone got a cookie at the end, and Preston had fun running around in the middle of the circle with the other teeny kiddos.

And then it was on to the real fun!

Addie's Halloween Party

Sometimes when it's my turn to teach Joy School I wonder why in the world I do it, but Addie L-O-V-E-S to have school at her house...or as she says, to have all her friends come over. And then I am really glad that we do it and that she and I get this extra time together. Thursday we hosted the Halloween party during the second half of class time. Addie has been ecstatic to wear her costume and help me decorate and have her friends come eat yummy food. That morning she anxiously waited by the front door for the first arrivals.

After a quick lesson and craft, I let the kids play while I started to set things up for the party. The other moms arrived and helped the kids get into their costumes for our big performance (a parade around the backyard and singing a few songs...which was really me singing and half of the kids following along with the motions :-).

Then it was on to the good stuff...food, talking and playing until we all needed some quiet time :-). The kids were amazed by the dry ice Emily brought for the soda.
