Usually we spend time with Mike's family either right before or right after Christmas at their home in San Antonio. This year they are going to be spending most of the break in CA though and Chrissy had a wedding to shoot in Houston the weekend before Christmas, so everyone came to our house for a quick celebration instead. The girls were definitely disappointed not to go to Meema and Papa's house, and especially to see the train around their Christmas tree (although it was probably better that Preston missed it this year, I think he would have demolished it with his love :-), but it was fun to have everyone at our house during the holidays for a change.
Saturday after a morning photo shoot that Chrissy came with me to (some pics here), Diane, Chrissy and I spent the rest of the day at the wedding while the guys and the kids hung out at home. It was a lot of fun to have girl time and hang out together all day... and also confirmed to me that I have no desire to photograph weddings anytime soon- it is exhausting! The next day we went to church, ate Cafe Rio Pork Salad (which gets better every time), and then exchanged presents before watching the Survivor finale and finally saying goodbye. It was a great kick off to our first week of the vacation!
Addie is seriously the BEST present opener ever!
She gets so excited and has great compliments to give the gifters. She was overcome with excitement when she realized that she had received Marie's brother Berlioz! We have NEVER seen any of the Aristocats but Marie and she yelled, "You guys are the BEST!!!" to Meema and Papa after opening them :-).
(none of these pictures are great, but you get the idea of the excitement :-)
Ella takes more after me...even when she is really excited about a present she has a hard time showing it :-).
Preston was HILARIOUS opening presents this year.
This was his first one and he didn't know what to do when he saws the cars behind the plastic. He wanted them out, but he didn't want to touch them and he needed help but he was so excited he didn't know what to say. So, instead he made a weird face and just opened and closed his hands until we helped him get them :-).
Mike's gift from Diane was another amazing painting to complete our set from last year. Addie was so adorable and tried to recreate the exact pose of the picture with him :-).
I decided this year that I wanted to start collecting different globes :), and I got my first one! Plus, Steve handmade this really cool nativity background, which is perfect because I really would like to find a few more different and interesting nativities for our house.
This is Addie, ALL day, EVERY day...no matter what she is wearing :-)!
It was a great visit and beginning to the holiday season! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas yesterday!
