The REAL Day

Friday was Addie girl's REAL birthday. I'm sure we had her thoroughly confused with all the pre and post celebrations :-).
Mike left early for work so he could pick up some doughnuts first.

We all headed out to Ella's school for reading time. Addie gets to play with the toys in the PTA room while I read in the classroom and she LOVES it there. They have a bunch of dinosaurs that she loves to play with and talks about all week...so it was a perfect birthday activity :-).

We came home for a little while and then Nana came over and gave Addie one of her presents so she could open something on her real birthday. CATS!!! (surprised?!)

We picked up lunch at ChickFilA and went to eat with Ella at school.

Back home to play with her new cats.

I can't believe our little Adeline is now THREE!!! It just makes me sad, but happy too :-).
Here's a quick look back at her last birthdays...

What a Mail Day!

A most perfect birthday card for Addie from Uncle Mack and Aunt Cheryl :-)

and a Valentine package from Meema and Papa...lucky kiddos!

The girls were most excited about the candy...I was most excited about the cute heart hair clips and a new,
festive pacifier holder for Preston.

The girls and I went to Hope's band recital.

Later that night I was able to go for a girls' night out! Hooray :-)! It had been WAY too long and it was so much fun!

Not My Brightest Idea

Since our pediatrician likes to see her baby patients 2 weeks before their month mark, I thought it would be perfect to get both Addie and Preston's well checks at the same time.
So Thursday morning off we went...looking cute.

Miss Adeline at 3 years old.
Height: 36 3/4" (50th % percentile)
Weight: 31 lbs (30th)

(Addie tried to help me get him to smile by "tickling" him...he didn't think it was funny)

We arrived, checked in, and had fun in the waiting room.

Addie got weighed and measured.

Preston got weighed and measured.

Preston started to get a little irritated by it all and when the doctor came in and checked his heart beat he had had enough.
He got mad and cried, which made Addie cry and I couldn't hold them both, so an extra nurse came and held whoever wasn't being
checked at any given moment.
It was pretty hilarious. The funniest thing about this traumatic trip for the kiddos, is they weren't even getting shots, so it should have been a fun visit! They did of course have periods of calmness in the midst of the appointment, but it was the times when they were both upset that all the adults in the room just smiled at each other :-). I told the doctor not to worry, I had learned my lesson and wouldn't be trying this again anytime soon.
She couldn't believe how strong Preston's legs were when he was resisting her little hip movement testing and Addie did her best to try and trick her into thinking she didn't know anything. Some excerpts of our conversation...
Dr: "How old are you?"
Addie: "Ahhh!"
Dr. (feeling Addie's tummy): "What's in your tummy? What did you have for breakfast?"
Addie: "Food!!!"
Dr: "Can you put your thumb up like this? Where is your thumbkin?"
Addie: Holds up her hand like she's going to give a "five"
Dr (to me): "Does she form 5-8 word sentances?"
Me: "Yes."
Addie: "Ahhh!"
The highlight of the trip was getting a cat sticker at the end.
Preston's parting gift wasn't quite as exciting...he got his first flu shot. I just had him get the regular one and it wiped him out (well that in combination with the crying in the office I'm sure). He fell asleep on the way home around 10:15am and I put him down in his crib when we got home. He slept and slept and slept. I kept checking to make sure he was ok and eventually woke him up at 2:30pm because I thought he must be starving. He ate a little, played a little and around 5pm I left with the girls to go to Hope's band concert. I called Mike on the way to tell him he should try and feed Preston some more since he hadn't eaten much all day and was told he had fallen asleep on the floor. He was just crawling around our bedroom and layed down and went to sleep! So Mike put him in bed and he slept and slept some more and some more. I got him out of bed at 10pm, fed him another bottle and put him back to sleep and then had to wake him up at 8am to go to Ella's school...CRAZY! (he was back on a normal schedule again today) He never was feverish or sick or anything, just tired.

And it was pajama at Ella's school. She had been looking forward to this day for weeks and nearly missed it from being sick. She was a little out of it in the morning still, but assured me she was fine. She got to bring slippers, a stuffed animal and a book as well...and she insisted on her gingerbread jammies because she thought her teacher would love them :-).

So, I just want to brag

Because when I spend $30.70 and save $73.08, I'm feeling pretty proud :-).
Especially when I searched through various blogs to find the coupon match-ups all on my own so I could go early in the day.
Melissa's Bargain Blog now has the best list posted for the Kroger Mega Sale, so check it out. A lot of the coupons are printables, which means if you haven't been cutting coupons from the paper you can steal get some bargains!
So, what did I get for $30?
Pretty much all things that we buy regularly anyway. I even let Mike throw in a couple bags of his favorite Dorito's (not part of the mega sale) and we still did well!
4 Philly 1/3 the fat cream cheeses
3 cans Rotel tomatoes
3 cans Hunt's diced tomatoes
4 boxes Roarin' Waters
2 blocks Kraft cheese
4 bags Kraft cheese cubes/shredded cheese (2%)
2 bags frozen veggies (birds eye/green giant)
2 boxes Texas Toast (Mike loves)
4 bags Chex Mix (the girls' favorite special snack)
1 Oscar Meyer sandwich creation
4 kinds of French's mustard
1 Frank's hot sauce
2 bags Doritos
3 double packs I can't Believe it's not butter spread
1 (1 lb) block 2% Velveeta (perfect for Super Bowl Sunday!)
1 pack Solo plates (perfect for Addie's bday dinner this Sunday)

Thank you :-)!

Off the Hook for Now

Tuesday was our last day in charge of joy school for a few weeks. Addie has loved having it here and was especially excited this week because we were going to be eating cupcakes with her little buddies for her birthday.
Addie all ready in her birthday outfit and waiting for her friends to arrive.

We talked more about both shapes and colors through out the day.

Plenty of Playtime.
(semi-short story. I thought my mom was coming to help again but there was a mix up and Hope had a doctor's appt downtown. I was nervous but told myself it would be ok. Then Preston woke up an hour earlier than he had been, which meant he was tired earlier, which meant he woke up from his morning nap not long after all the girls arrived. Things weren't going very smoothly so I had all the girls go outside for some freedom and fresh air about 30 minutes into our "class" and guess who walked through our back gate?! My mom and Hope! I don't know if I've ever been so glad to see them :-)!)

Some pictures of all the girlies...some were more excited about this than others :-).
Photobucket
Silly faces
(can you tell Addie and Hannah are the ones with big sisters? they were well practiced in silly faces :-)
Photobucket
Ellie was loving it...Anna not so much.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Brooklynn was mostly just excited about her painted fingernails.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Hannah obliged.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
And our birthday girl just wanted to run and have fun with her friends...and do some swinging.

Ellie thought it looked like a good idea too.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
We attempted another activity...only Ellie and Addie stayed interested for long.
Hope and I had fun gluing all the pictures on for everyone else though :-).
Photobucket
After lunch we FINALLY sang Happy Birthday and had cupcakes.
Ellie didn't want one...I didn't know it was possible for a child to not want a cupcake! We convinced her to give it a taste and she still didn't want it.
Addie LOVED being the center of attention...and eating her cupcake.
(she saw these Little Debbie ones at the store and fell in love - I fell in love with the idea of not trying to get cupcakes frosted the morning of school)
