New Year's Eve Festivities

After spending most of the day resting up for the night ahead,

we met up with my family for a Mexican dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday.

A quick stop to get some fireworks for later,

letting Preston play on a real tractor (which was quite tramatic to say good-bye to),

and then it was over to our house for cake and presents (Strawberry Shortcake Cake to be exact).

The Scotts put on a good little fireworks show for us later that night and the girls had fun with their sparklers (and both of them stayed outside for the fireworks this year).

Preston on the other hand didn't appreciate them very much :-).

After some more visiting, everyone started heading home and we moved our party upstairs to wait for the New Year.

I definitely did not expect the girls to last until midnight and I thought Addie for sure would make it longer than Ella. But at 10pm Addie decided she was ready for bed and Ella was bound and determined to make it until midnight. One of the channels showed the ball drop in NYC live, so it was only 11pm here, and I was hoping that would be good enough for Ella, but she kept looking at her little watch and waiting for the real midnight to come. I think she was relieved when it finally came and it was time for bed, but she did it...which meant that I had to do it too :-)!

Looks like fun! Wish we could have been there. We just stayed in and watched movies. :)

Mack and I both love the picture of the cats sleeping with Ella on your bed.
