The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I didn't know what was going to happen next and couldn't stop reading it as a result.
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I liked this one less than the first, but could not put it down still.
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I think my opinion on the book was helped by knowing so many people were disappointed with it. Overall, I liked it and I couldn't stop reading it because I wanted to know how everything would end. There were definitely some things that could have been improved, but none of the books of the series are particularly well-written so I didn't feel too let down. I thought as a whole the Hunger Games Series was really entertaining...a perfect summer read!

We survived this week, but just barely, and my working out/eating healthy routine went down the tubes to make life happen these last few days. Oh well, the good news is we can get back on track again, Preston is back to being healthy, and we should all be much more relaxed now that all the big events are over (not to mention it's the last week of school...hooray!).
This is going to be one LOOONG post, so prepare yourself :-). Ella and Addie spent the year taking dance with my friend Heidi and they both loved it and loved her so much. I keep telling people I would pay Heidi just to hang out with the girls over the summer because she really made them feel so good about themselves and loved them each for their uniqueness (and I'm serious, I would pay her!). Of course, the girls also learned a lot about dance and were both so excited about the big recital. My only hope going into that night was that Addie would not lay down on the floor during the performance, and although things got a little rocky once the seats starting filling up (she was definitely feeling a little overwhelmed), she pulled through and danced the whole time. It wasn't always the dance Heidi taught her, but she dancing nonetheless :-). The biggest surprise of the night for me was little Miss Ella though. She suddenly turned into such a performer and all her fans, who know her so well (us, Kayley, Nana, Grandad, Grammy & Greatfrog), could not believe our usually shy girl was stealing the show! She absolutely loved every minute of it!
the girls also loved wearing make-up and doing their hair like real ballerinas
a little practicing and pep talk before the show began
Addie's class performed "Bunny Rabbit Blues" for their ballet number.
Heidi had to "place" Addie for both her dances
For Ella's ballet they danced to "Colors of the Wind" from Pocohantas.
After a quick costume change, it was on to the tap routines.
Addie was once again full of it :-). They performed to "Baby Take a Bow".
Ella had told me that the tap dance was her favorite, and she wasn't kidding! She LOVED performing this dance! (it's to "Everlasting Love")
There were pictures and treats after all the performances were over. Mike even brought each of our little dancers a bouquet of their favorite colored flowers, which they loved. It was definitely a huge success and such a special night!
The girls are going to miss seeing Heidi each week!
