Florida: The Magic Kingdom

We arrived in Orlando Monday in the late afternoon and got all settled into our hotel. After relaxing a bit we headed over to downtown Disney to buy our tickets for the next couple days and start getting into the Disney spirit. We tried to get everyone to sleep on time for our early start the next day, but it didn't really work. We were all too excited about the next day :-). I got everything organized for the next day and we were up and ready to go right on time.
We made our best entry time into a Disney park yet and headed to Dumbo first. For some reason our kids LOVE this ride (and apparently all other kids too because the lines get looong). We made it on the first spin and then were able to walk right on to a new Goofy roller coaster that even Preston was just tall enough to go on.
The rest of the morning we stuck to our Ridemax plan and and were able to go on the Tea Cups, Carousel, Peter Pan, the Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, Buzz Lightyear and watch Mickey's Philharmagic all with pretty much no wait. Then we took it easy for a bit and got some lunch and went on the Riverboat. Preston had been excited about this, but I would say it was a little anti-climatic. After a busy morning it was a nice break though, plus as the afternoon approached the crowds of people were increasing. We also went on the steam train around the park and then found a good spot for our first parade of the day (where the kids got lots of high-5s from the characters).
Mike took the girls on Splash Mountain and then we hung out in Adventureland for awhile. We went on the Pirates of the Caribbean, after which Preston fell asleep. Addie was really wanting to walk through the Swiss Family tree house so I took the girls while Mike hung out with our sleeping guy. Then it was time for the jungle cruise, some dinner and watching the show in front of the castle. We have done this show during the daytime in the past and it was way cooler at night when you could see all the lights so well. We went on Aladdin's Magic Carpets, watched the electrical parade (my personal favorite parade of all time) and then saw the fireworks in front of the castle. The crowd at the fireworks was CRAZY! We had talked about maybe doing a couple rides afterward, but in the end decided to call it a day so we still had some energy left for the next day at Hollywood Studios.
I think I remembered all the events of the day even though it was nearly 2 weeks ago. Going through all the pictures really made me want to go back NOW!
Other highlights of the day...
Addie and Preston were TERRIFIED in the Haunted Mansion! I really think we have traumatized them for life. Mike had Addie and I had Preston and they were both clinging to us and hiding their faces like they were going to die. Ella thought it was cool though :-).
Ella got really competitive on the Buzz light year ride and was really frustrated that she didn't beat Mike (which is pretty much impossible to do).
We failed to have anyone take a family picture of us anywhere, which I now regret.
For their souvenirs they picked...Ella: Lady stuffed dog, Addie: Pluto stuffed dog, Preston: McQueen spinning light.
Addie's favorite ride was the tea cups, Ella's was Small World and Preston's was Dumbo (I think, he liked controlling it going up and down).
It is hard to find the balance between enjoying your time there and being in the moment and then taking pictures to capture the memories. Part of me wishes I had taken more pictures of the day, but at the time it was nice to not be worried about it all day long.
Here is the big day in pictures...

My hips were actually sore from all the walking that first day, but it was definitely worth it!
