Riding the Steam Trains

Since we did not get to stay overnight in San Antonio like we were hoping, we were home Saturday morning and were able to go and ride the little steam trains. It was definitely a more popular attraction than last year when we first went to check it out, but after they got a couple extra trains making the rounds the line moved a lot faster. It was a fun little ride and it was especially fun because Mike was with us this time.

Six Flags Mad Dash

After surviving that crazy Thursday, we definitely deserved a reward :-) and headed to Six Flags with Mike and his physics kids. The school was a little more rigid with their rules this year so Mike had to ride on the bus both ways and they all had to leave the park at 3pm, so it was definitely a quick trip. I drove out with the kids by myself and the way there was not fun because they were SO excited to get there. The good news is the drive home was much more peaceful AND we stopped at my favorite San Antonio resale shop on our way out of town and scored tons of cute clothes and fun books. Mike's family was able to meet up with us in the afternoon and go on a few kid rides with us before we had to leave. Luckily we know we have many more trips to Six Flags in our future :-), and it still beat a day at school and home!
that is Mike and Preston heading away and Ella coming our way

Addie's Preschool Graduation

So we rushed over to Addie's school right after Ella's last dance and made it with a few minutes to spare before the program started. Grammy, Hope, Kayley and Oliver made the mad dash too and Grandad and Nana came right from the airport and got there just in time to see Addie's performance begin. I was a little nervous about what Addie would do during the "show" because sometimes it can be a gamble with her when she has an audience, but she did awesome! Way to go Adeline! The little program was to Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, one of our all time favorite books so I think that helped.

While the teachers took the kids off stage to prepare for the graduation ceremony, a little slide show with pictures from the year played. I took pictures of a few of the ones with Addie in them.

The year was full of ups and downs, and many humbling moments as a parent for me but in the end things were going really well. I am so thankful for Addie's teacher and the helpers who loved her no matter what and especially grateful that I was able to figure her out myself a bit through it all. Adeline wowed everyone with her artistic abilities and made everyone laugh (whether or not she was supposed to :-), she made good friends, loved to share her creations and pets with her class, and was always excited when it was a school day. Now, of course, she is looking forward to kindergarten. She was accepted into the Two-Way Immersion program that Ella has been in and I am so excited about it, especially because our favorite teacher is still there and I'm so happy Addie will have her too! Congratulations to Addie Cat for overcoming all the "hard" things and succeeding!

Ella's Dance Recital 2012

Ella LOVES to dance and she has had so much fun this year in her dance class. I tried to talk her out of it because we had so many other activities this year, but in the end we let her do it still, knowing it would be her last year. She loved seeing Miss Heidi each week, she loved making new friends in her class and of course, she loved dancing around like a rock star (she now says she wants to be a librarian or a rock star when she grows up). She was super excited to get glammed up for the big recital and did a great job! We love our little dancing girl :-)!
With her cheering section...Grammy, Hopie, Kayley and Oliver
