Friday, was the moment I was most excited about...zip lining! Our travel guy set up our day with Canopy Safari (which some locals told us was the best one when we first arrived in Manuel Antonio so I was extra excited), they have 10 zip lines, 2 repel lines, one suspension bridge, one "Tarzan swing", a butterfly farm and serpentarium. They came and picked us up from the hotel and the drive out with the guide was nice because he talked a bit about the history of the area (for example all these palm farms that produce palm oil used to be bananas but they were affected by some disease from Panama (I think) and were replaced by the palms). There were millions of palm trees and it looked part creepy and part magical inside the groves.
We arrived and had some fruit and juice and then went to see the butterflies and snakes. It was just a little area, but still neat. Then it was time to get our zip lining gear on and have the safety demonstration. We were divided into 3 groups and off we went. I was nervous about bringing my camera and almost didn't, but it ended up fine and I was so glad I brought it even though I didn't get any pictures that did what we actually were seeing justice. I smiled the whole time. It was beautiful and thrilling. Loved it! On the 2nd repel they gave us the option to lie back and free fall (a guide was at the bottom to slow us down at the last minute) and it was seriously one of the best adrenaline rushes I have ever had. I couldn't stop laughing after. When we made it back there was a super delicious lunch for us before we were driven back to the hotel. It was a perfect Costa Rican day :-)!
These pretty blue ones just would not stop moving! We saw so many butterflies everywhere we went on our trip and they always made me think of Addie :-).
Looking good in our gear :-)!!!
I couldn't hold the camera while I was going (plus we had thick gloves on) but I left it recording as it hung behind me one of the times.
Mike was right before me so I was always busy preparing for my turn when he went, but this is the guy in front of Mike. It shows it better than my leave it recording video.
When we came back to our hotel there was a random towel creation...the only one of the trip.
