Colorado - Denver Zoo

The next morning (the 10th), we headed out to the Denver Zoo for our last stop before leaving Colorado. The kids and I were super excited about this. We couldn't wait to see what animals their zoo had that ours didn't (polar bear, gorillas, arctic foxes, and a big ugly hippo) AND Mike was coming with us...for the first time! We always go to our zoo on a school day so it will be less crowded and we don't sweat to death, so he hasn't ever come along for the fun. Denver was a really nice zoo and we enjoyed the change of scenery, although I think overall the Houston zoo is still our favorite.

I love gorillas, so I was especially excited to see them. But they looked so sad :-(.

We walked the whole zoo...Addie was sure we saw every animal! The weather had been perfect all morning and we were just starting to feel hot and uncomfortable right at the end.
Then it was off to Rubio's for fish tacos before loading back into the RV.
In the morning before we left Mike had taken the kids over to the train tracks we were parked near and placed a bunch of pennies on the tracks to get flattened. The girls were excited to search and find them and we ended up with 7 of the 12. It was a cool experiment and they played with their treasures on the next leg of our journey.

And then we were off for an all-nighter to Yellowstone. The kids played for awhile before we got them ready for bed and settled in for the voyage.
