Last Week...

Preston continued to sing the Little Einsteins theme song non-stop and it continued to drive Addie crazy.

Rachael took Ella on a little ice cream date as a belated birthday treat. Ella thought she was the coolest girl ever :-)!

It was picture day at school and even though we don't order the pics, we still want to look cute in the yearbook!

Addie saw this cute craft in her Ranger Rick magazine and couldn't wait to make it. Her bats turned out adorable...I only wish she still wanted to make me more :-)!

Also...
*the girls had dentist appointments and we are still cavity free, which means we still like the dentist :-). (Preston, Mike and I all go this week and I hate the dentist :-( shhh)
*Mother Goose visited Addie at school.
*Preston was thrilled to finally have a play date with Ian again.
*I wished every night of the week that I didn't have to take Ella to swim practice, but we made it anyway.
*Addie's smiley face streak ended with one frown on Friday :(, but we are ready for a fresh start tomorrow.
*Ella got her progress report and is doing awesome as usual. She hasn't had much homework yet this year so I was feeling a little out of the loop and it was good to know she is doing well.
*We got Addie's soccer team roster and her buddy Brooklynn made it on to the same team. Addie's little face lit right up when I told her they would be playing together!
*I got to read in Addie's class Friday morning and then have lunch with girlfriends, which is always a treat.
I tried to enjoy this past week because it was relatively calm compared to the one coming up. I'm working on pumping myself up to make it through :-)!

Stepping It Up

Addie is always coming up with a newer and more exciting project to work on.
Here she is last weekend putting on a movie for her kitties.

The next day she spruced up her "tv" even more and put on a movie for Mike and I. It was so cute! I made a video but she's trying to stay cool in it so I'm not posting it :-).

Ella has been practicing hard and at her first swim meet of this indoor season already improved her times from summer league a bit. The meet was a little stressful (super crowded) and it was hard to actually see her races (it was only freestyle and backstroke this one) but it was nice and short.
Freestyle: 23.42 (previous best 23.53) 18th/38

Backstroke: 30.22 (previous best 31.44) 26th/38

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am still slowly trying to finish August's book club book and was thinking I must just be too busy to read. Then I started to read this book and I WANTED to keep reading it so I made the time. I love WWII books and found this one to be especially good. I loved it and highly recommend it!

Friday Full of Fun

Due to the crazy rain the previous Friday, our TWI (two-way immersion) get together was postphoned to last Friday (21st). Preston and I picked up the girls from their hallways and then headed over to the little playground and gazebo that is next to the school. There were plenty of yummy snacks to be eaten, friends to be played with and parachute space to run under. We didn't stay a super long time, but everyone had fun while we were there and I was once again appreciative of the opportunity we have to be a part of this program.

We dropped Ella off at a friends' house to play and then headed back home. Addie finished her deluxe "cat money" game that she had been working so hard on and invited me to play it with her. The amount of work and detail she puts into her little projects is always amazing to me. She did let Preston help her color the middle of the game board, hence the big brown scribbles, and then had each of us draw a little something of our own there. She is such a cutie, who is doing awesome at school still by the way. After that little bump in the road the second week, it has been all smiley faces since. I can't wait for my parent-teacher conference next week to hear more details about how it is going!
(and she is reading!!! such an awesome milestone in life!)

More Catching Up

Friday, the 14th
It was the first day of parent readers for the kindergartners. Luckily for us, we once again have friends to take turns with watching the younger siblings so I will get to read to Addie pretty often (plus Preston gets to have fun with other kids every Friday too). I was able to go to Addie's class this day and read the books she picked out. Once again, Press Here was an instant hit. If you don't own this book yet, get online and order it NOW! :-)

That afternoon we were supposed to have a little party at the playground next to the school with all the other TWI kids but it was POURING rain! Preston and I got soaked walking to the back of the school to pick up the girls. I didn't think to bring them flip flops to put on so I had them put their tennis shoes and socks in their backpacks and just walk bare foot to the car because the sidewalks were completely flooded. I really need to invest in a Texas sized umbrella!
When we got home we got dry and then had a movie afternoon instead of our party...with blue popcorn.

Sunday, the 16th
I am usually scrambling out the door with the kids since most Sundays Mike has a meeting right before church, but I was actually ready early this week and we got a quick picture.
9-16-12-1
Monday and Tuesday were filled with swim practices, activity days, a swim orientation meeting, photo shoot, school for Prest and the usual errands and homework.
Wednesday, the 19th
The girls looked cute so we got a picture before they headed off to school. Ella picked out her outfit all on her own.
9-19-12-1
Swim practice ended up being cancelled so I told Ella to try and get the rest of her homework done since Thursday was going to be CRAZY. I was getting dinner ready in the kitchen and looked out the window to see she had found a nice, and not so comfy looking, spot in the tree.

AND we ate something that night that the kids actually LOVED. It's been a looong time since that has happened :-)!

Children's Museum Fun

Our second stop on Thursday was the Children's Museum. We LOOOVE it here and all the kids were so excited. It is a bit overwhelming to try and make it everywhere, but I think we managed to get to every station. It was also extra fun because Kayley and Oliver were able to meet up with us for a bit. We don't see them near enough and even though it was hard to visit while keeping track of all the kiddos, it was still fun!
