Stars of the Katy Rice Festival Parade

For the last two years one of our favorite fall activities has been going to the Katy Rice Festival parade. It is small enough that you can get there right before it starts and get a great seat, but big enough that it is entertaining. Not to mention the kids love all the candy and goodies they would get.(check out 2011 and 2010 -Preston was sooo little- here)
Well, this year the girls had the opportunity to actually be in the parade and they were super excited about it! Their Two-Way Immersion (TWI) program put together a little float and we were able to help get it ready and then walk and give out candy in the parade. At the end of the route was a judges table where we did a little performance and then headed back towards our cars.
After getting them situated at the beginning of the route I headed over and sat and watched most of the parade with Preston, Mike and my parents. We got to see the girls walk up and then I followed along with them the rest of the way because I didn't want to lose them :-). Overall they had a great time, although Addie did mention that watching the parade was more fun because you get candy.
Now fall is officially here in my book...despite the 90 degree temperatures :-).

Finally we spotted the TWI float! We had to run across the street because the girls were on the opposite side. They looked pretty cute passing out candy in their colorful skirts.
