Vegas in a Day

Over our Thanksgiving break Mike and I took a whirlwind trip to Vegas. We needed to get away and relax and his parents are always more than willing to watch our crazy kids for us to do so. Since our time with them was already going to be pretty short though we didn't want to be gone too long and what resulted was a one day and one night Vegas vacation.
We drove San Antonio (in the RV) right after school let out on Tuesday (the 20th) and then we flew out early Wednesday morning, arriving in Vegas at 7:30am. After picking up a rental car we headed to the heart of it all and walked around a bit, but mostly looked for Hash House a Go Go. Mckell had suggested this to me and I knew I HAD to try it. I LOVE breakfast food and this place was sooo good! We shared Andy's Benedict...sage fried chicken w/ fresh spinach, hardwood smoked bacon, market tomato, griddled mozzarella, chipotle cream and scrambled eggs. It was heavenly...and huge.
We explored some casinos (it is seriously creepy how you lose all sense of time and direction in there!), did some outlet shopping and then did some TV show exploring. We tried to find the Sister Wives' houses and we were totally on the right street. The address we had was for the wrong house...it was right across the street from Meri's house (we have been closely inspecting the house shots on this season). Maybe next time we can catch them outside! We also went to the Pawn Star's shop which was pretty cool. They had some items we have seen on the show and tons of Chumley merchandise, which I thought was funny. We recognized one worker who has been seen on the show, but there were no major star sightings. I was hoping with my good "get on tv" luck we may make it onto an episode :-). Oh well, maybe next time.
We had to fit in more eating of course and had lunch at Cafe Rio, dinner at In n Out and dessert from the hotel. We stayed at the Aria which was super nice! When we first opened the door to the room lights came on, the curtain over the huge window began to slowly open and music started playing. It was hilarious... and awesome :-). I had nearly as much fun as the kids would have had playing with the little tablet that let you control the room from the comfort of your bed. Temperature, curtains, lights dimming, tv channels, room service, you could do everything from that thing! We flew out the next morning (thanksgiving day) and left Vegas feeling stuffed and rested.
We love our kids to death, but it sure is nice to have a little break from them every once in awhile :-). Thanks Freefam for taking such good care of them while we were gone!
a survivor torch! we actually missed this season, but still cool
here's a pic of the kids having a blast without us that day on the train...

I'm glad you got to experience Hash House...there is one in San Diego that we would visit quite often when we lived there, SO good!
