Preschool "Graduation"

Our little preschool group met for the last time last Tuesday, the 21st, and I was the final host. We mostly hung out and played, with a few graduation activities mixed in before the moms all came for a potluck lunch and little "ceremony".
It was tough finding a group of kids this year but in the end it all worked out so perfectly. I loved meeting for one entire day each week instead of two shorter and the mix of 3 girls and 3 boys was great. The kids all got along really well and they didn't just play with the same people each time, which I loved. Preston was so excited to go each week and was especially excited when it was at our house.
I, on the other hand, was left feeling pretty stressed when it was at our house. When I was organizing it I had no idea my photography business was going to take off so much and not slow down the entire year. It has been exciting of course, but also left me wishing I had just put Preston in a regular preschool. I am definitely happy to be done with my years of preschool co-ops, but also so happy that I had the opportunity to do it with each child. I love that it really gives them a chance to become good friends with some of the kids from church that will be in other elementary schools and I think it is a perfect preparation for real preschool and eventually kindergarten.
Here are some of the highlights of our cute little group on their final day...

The Family Party

In the few hours Saturday between getting back from the beach and going on our date I started stressing about Preston's family party. What was I going to make?!
Preston doesn't like most food I make so there wasn't something he would be dying for and I just wanted to keep it simple. I started browsing through my recipe blog (from the good old days when I actually made dinner every night) and saw a recipe for meatballs and then I remembered the SUPER yummy chicken pesto meatballs I had bought at Sprouts a few weeks ago. They were so good in fact that the night I left them simmering on the stove for Mike, Addie and Preston while I took Ella to swimming I received a text from him about how good they were. That is serious :-)! So, there we had it...easy, yummy, and not crazy expensive (I had stopped by our fave Mexican restaurant to see about just buying a pan of cheese enchiladas and rice and beans from them...too much!). One quick run to Sprouts and we were ready for the dinner.
After church Sunday we got it all ready, everyone came over to eat and visit and Preston got even more cool toys...and an iTunes giftcard from Grammy and Greatfrog that made his little heart skip a beat when I explained what it was. GAMES for the IPAD?!?! It doesn't get better :-)!
So, I think it's safe to say Preston had a successful birthday day, week and weekend. One of these days we'll get the thank yous out in the mail!
a quick pre-party nap at church :-)
