Colorado - Garden of the Gods

We bought lunch at the café on the top of Pike's Peak and ate on the ride down, so by the time we were done with our ride we were ready to explore Garden of the Gods. Last year Addie fell in love with the red rocks so she was especially excited to go again! It was way busier than last time, we are assuming because it was a Saturday, so we skipped the visitor's center and headed straight to the good stuff :-)! It was a little rainy the whole time we were there which was actually perfect, not only for pictures, but for keeping us cool too.

The kids and Mike had started making their way up another little mountain and I was taking pictures and coming up behind them when Addie yelled that there was a snake by Preston. I never saw it but we all screamed for Preston to run back down to me which freaked him out. Addie sprinted down, both of them hurting themselves on the way. Ella was higher than where the snake had been spotted and froze in fear crying for Mike to rescue her. So, he carried her down the mountain and we all survived the experience :-). We tried finding the snake online later that night but still are not sure what it was. It had black and yellow rings that went around it's whole body...snake experts? All the pictures we found that they said looked like it were of snakes in Asia.

The kids were done climbing around after that so we headed back to the RV and then began our drive towards Denver. We stopped to get shredded beef tacos at a restaurant Mike had found in the area and then we FINALLY (according to Ella) arrived at the Beecher's house. Ella was SO excited to see Anessa again...and of course I was looking forward to seeing Janna too :-). It just so happened they moved from Helena, MT to Denver this spring and since Denver was right on our route we were lucky enough to see them again. More on our visit in the next post though! Here are Ella and Anessa that night.
