Utah - Dinosaur Museum

I forgot to mention in my post yesterday that we tried to go to the Bean Life Science Museum again this year while on campus and it is STILL closed for renovations...crazy! It was a bummer for us! It did make us more excited for our trip to Thanksgiving Point's Museum of Ancient Life on Friday though. Mike was planning another fishing trip while I took the kids to the museum (it's a little tricky when we only have one car to use).
We headed to breakfast first and I picked Guru's. I loved it there when I was in college but it has never been a favorite of Mike's so last year we never went. Breakfast seemed like the perfect time to go since I love breakfast and Mike doesn't eat it. We were both surprised by how delicious it was!!! The kids' French toast and blueberry pancakes were AMAZING!!! I got Huevos Rancheros and some home fries that were also super yum! The museum didn't open until 10am so we drove around some more, finding the house in Springville that my mom lived in for part of high school. I was ready to move in! It was at the base of the mountain and at the end of a cul-de-sac. Mike and I both really fell in love Springville. So many cool old buildings with personal charm. One of these summers we'd love to rent a place out there and just stay the whole summer.
Anyway, we got to the museum right when it opened for our afternoon of fun. It was a bit more crowded than I remember it being last year when we went for the first time, but we managed to stay away from the crowds for the most part. We went to a 3D movie this year and also tried the fossil prep and molding/casting. It was a great time!!!

We allotted each child some money to use for shopping on the trip and Ella chose to use all her money at the museum gift shop. One of the things she picked out was this little pearl necklace kit where you break open a shell to get your pearl out and then put it in a necklace. She was so excited to do it the instant we got back to the RV.

I love all of your vacation posts. They make me want to go on a road trip! How wonderful for you and your family!

Also, I just had to say that I love Springville too! I did my student teaching and then taught for two years at Springville Middle School. It's gone now--they did away with middle schools and went to junior highs and most of the staff now works at Mapleton Junior. But I loved that town. When Matt and I got married I told him I wished we could scoop it up and plop it down wherever we were going to live. That whole area is great.

I miss Utah.
