Friday, the 26th, was our day in the big city. We waited a bit to head out to hopefully avoid some traffic and stopped in Palo Alto first for lunch and to see some sights, including a drive around the Stanford campus. I was SOOO looking forward to our favorite little sushi place Miyake and when we got there it was gone :-(! It was there 2 years ago when Mike and I came out for our anniversary and it was such a bummer. Mike called his dad for another suggestion and we ended up at the Peninsula Fountain Grill and LOVED it! Walking back to our car we happened upon the coolest little book shop and I had to buy some books :-). I love book stores!
And then it was on into the city!
We thought we were prepared with sweaters and light coats for our outfits, but it was still pretty chilly so the kids ended up with cute new hats too :-). We got dessert at Ghiradelli, walked around some piers checking out the old ships, happened across an artist doing some cool art on a building, walked half way across the Golden Gate bridge (where we watched a huge ship go right below us), and then headed back downtown to eat dinner on the famous pier 39.
It is such a fun city!!! I would love to live there for a summer too...add it to my list :-).
