We continued on into Reno, figured out where to park the RV for our casino/hotel and went to get checked in. I was sitting with the kids waiting for Mike when a lady came up and asked if we were checking in or out. When I told her we were checking in she handed us a fist full of Circus Circus tickets. The kids were SOOO excited!!! Then Mike came over and told me he added a 2nd adjoining room for the kids and I was SOOO excited :-)! We checked out the room, caught up on some computer business while the kids watched a show on TV and then we got changed and headed out for a drive to Lake Tahoe.
First though we went over to a school in Reno where Mike set a record during a track meet in high school. I remember stopping by to check it out right after we got married when we were driving from BYU to visit his family in CA. We weren't sure it would still be there, but it was! Pretty amazing that it has held up after 17 years! Way to go Mike, you little speedster :-)!
Then it was on to Lake Tahoe. Mike had told me it was 30 minutes to get there and although it ended up being an hour each way and the kids were CRAZY, they did love it when we got there and it was beautiful, so I'm glad we did it. The lake was absolutely gorgeous...and insanely crowded.
We headed back to the hotel, got all showered and dressed again and then got dinner and hit Circus Circus even though it was late. I have some fun childhood memories there and the kids loved it. They played some games and each won a stuffed animal (sometimes thanks to Mike's help :-), caught part of a circus act and then cashed in the tickets from the nice lady. I wanted to stay an extra night in our nice hotel set up, but we were also excited to get to California so after a quick breakfast in the morning we were back on the road.
