Utah - Salt Lake City

Our yummy brunch gave us plenty of energy to explore Salt Lake City. We decided to start with the Church History Museum since it has the children's area that we loved so much last summer. The gift shop there ended up being one of our favorites. I got both the girls cute little necklaces and picked up some fun little games as well.
After playing in the kids' area and walking through the rest of the museum it was clear that our kids were through with touring museums and buildings. Between Nauvoo and BYU the day before I think they were just DONE. So, we skipped the rest of the visitor centers in temple square and the conference center (which I was a little sad about, but it was just last summer we did them all I suppose) and just walked around outside. We admired the temple and all the gorgeous flowers and then went into the Joseph Smith building to check out the view from the top floor (something we didn't do last year).
By that time we were all hot and tired so we got in the car and headed back to Provo. We bribed (or threatened, depending on how you look at it :-) the kids to be quiet on the drive home with the promise of another huge snow cone to those children who could be silent the entire drive. They all passed out within minutes of not talking :-).
We ate dinner at a little Thai restaurant we used to go to back in the day. Mike cleaned their carpets in college and it was really close to our little town house. I was shocked it was still there (some of our other favorites that seemed to be busier aren't)! And then after some comments on my Instagram posting about how I loved breakfast at Guru's, we decided we better try their desserts too. Definitely delish!

It was cool to see and read everything in the Nauvoo section after just being there.

Sometimes picture ideas just don't pay off. This was one that was stressful to get...telling the kids to move, then freeze, then smile, then stop smashing your sister, etc. And in the end they didn't look that great anyway. Oh well :-).

We stopped asking people to take our pictures and started just photo shopping them into a complete family picture. They turn out better :-).

This was another stressful one to get, but this time I'm glad I went through it.

Preston HAD to touch every fountain we walked by, even if it meant lots of extra walking in the hot sun. Silly guy.
