Yosemite - Day 2

I hate that I am so behind on blogging this part of the trip because I know I am going to forget to mention things.
We woke up our first morning in the actual park (July 31st) and decided to drive into the more touristy parts before they got super crowded. It was so nice to have the roads to ourselves and be able to stop and enjoy the sites without tons of people! When we went to walk around the Tenaya Lodge we happened to check out the breakfast menu outside the restaurant. The buffet sounded pretty spectacular so we stayed and it was so yummy! Definitely a good decision :-).
It was crazy how much the park had filled up when we left breakfast! We started the drive back to camp and although we had talked about checking out some other areas, in the end decided we would rather get back to our quite little campsite.
We did our big hike in the afternoon. We had learned from the day before and just had the kids wear their swimsuits all day so they were ready to get in water at any point :-). It was pretty awesome to have all three kids able to handle walking for so long...even little Preston, which totally impressed me! We like doing our own thing so just winging it and hiking along the stream was heaven. It is so beautiful there; the pictures do not do it justice. We stopped and at lunch and swam around a bit before heading back to camp.
The rest of the day was spent walking back and forth to the creek, doing a little craft, more fishing for Mike and Ella, and just enjoying the peace and quiet. We had foil dinners along with a couple more fish (they were seriously amazing) for dinner and then lots more smores. Mike and I had told the kids about how amazing the stars were the night before and told them they could stay up until it was dark enough to see them really well. It took quite awhile and they got creative with their glow sticks in the mean time. That is actually one of my most fun memories of the trip. They each had tons of glow sticks since we ended up cutting out some of our other camping stops due to the RV issues and making the movies of them wearing them was so fun :-). After the star gazing we called it a night...our last one in Yosemite sadly.

Holy crap Marci. Your summer has been amazing. Way to make use of your RV. Glad you made it to Yosemite. I regret not having headed out there more often given all the years I lived in CA. But 3 years back, I did get to stay in the Tenaya Lodge and enjoy their buffet breakfast. Seriously worth it!
