Primary Program 2013

Last Sunday was our ward primary program and it was the first one that Preston got to participate in. It was pretty fun to have all 3 kids up there :-). They all did a great job saying their parts and for the most part were reverent during the rest. I can also say Ella sang all the songs, and that the other two looked cute even if they didn't!

Another ReCap

There really isn't a better way to do this, or I would do it :-)! Here are the highlights of last week.
Saturday, the 14th, was my last not crazy Saturday of until after Thanksgiving so I let the girls each invite a friend over to play. Ellie and Addie went swimming while Preston had his swim lesson.
Pictures from Preston's teacher on Monday, the 16th.
Some glimpses of our afternoons from Monday and Tuesday...
(I've actually been making dinner during the week most nights! Go me :-)

Meeting Eloise

One week ago our newest niece/cousin was born! She came so quickly I didn't even have time to get to the hospital to take pictures like I was planning, so the next morning the kids all got to skip some school to go and meet her. Congratulations to Kayley and Scott on their newest little cutie!
(oh, when I asked Preston the night before he wanted to go to school the next day or go to meet his new cousin Eloise he told me, "I want to go because I have never met her before!" haha:)
Addie didn't want to hold her :-)
Oliver was amazingly sweet with her from the instant he first held her!
Grammy with all her great-grandkids and Nana and Grandad with all their grandkiddos...for the next few months anyway :-). We have another little nephew joining the crew in January.

Addie's First Lost Tooth!

Addie has anxiously been awaiting losing her first tooth. Many of her friends have lost multiple teeth already and Addie's have been taking their time to come out. Early last week during dinner she told us that her tooth was hurting and when we checked it was nice a lose. Addie couldn't believe it and didn't leave her tooth alone after that. She really, REALLY wanted to lose it during school so she could get a little treasure box to put it in. On Sunday (the 15th) I was sitting in Relief Society when the primary president came in to me. I was worried one of my children was misbehaving (not that that's ever happened before, haha) but she handed me a ziploc bag and told me Addie's tooth had come out in class. My first thought was, "oh no! She is going to be so sad she didn't lose it at school!" and sure enough the primary pres told me she made some comment about it :-). Luckily the excitement of losing her first tooth was enough that she wasn't too upset about the timing though. She couldn't wait to put her tooth under her pillow that night. In the morning she had forgotten all about it until I asked her if the tooth fairy came. When she saw the dollars she told me she was going to try to lose more teeth soon :-)! Hooray for Adeline!

And Some More

It's hard to keep up with taking pictures of our life along with all the others I'm taking, but I did get some of our morning one day last week. We have managed to really get our morning routine down this year and it has been going incredibly smoothly...I'm pretty proud of us :-). I have been driving the girls to school this year. Even though they are the last stop on the bus, it was just never the same once we got our new bus driver last year and the district consolidated routes making the buses more crowded. The girls both wanted me to drive them and I really don't want the start of every school day to be more stressful than needed. We are close to the school and we have found when we get to the school on time, the line is super short and fast so it's only takes a few minutes.
Here is how our typical mornings go...the kids wander into our room between 6:15am and 6:45am (Preston is usually at the early end and Ella at the late end with Addie in the middle). We turn on PBS kids and let ourselves wake up while lying around watching Martha Speaks. The show ending is our cue to head downstairs for breakfast. Smoothies are first most mornings and while the kids drink those I get food ready (Addie is almost always cereal, Ella and Preston have frozen waffles or pancakes most of the time) and then start making lunches. All the kids have been favoring rice cake sandwiches over bread ones so far this year. I would love to know what their teachers think about that :-). As they finish their breakfast they clear their spots and head upstairs to brush teeth and get dressed as I finish the rest of the prep in the kitchen (we put out outfits the night before). They have to be heading upstairs by 7:30am to stay on schedule and most of the time they are done a little earlier than that. When I head upstairs I do hair and then they get to play and relax until it's time to go (by 8am). I get myself ready and we are out the door on time.
It has made the mornings so much more pleasant to finally have this down and I'm not sure why it seems better. We pretty much did the same thing last year but maybe because we weren't in charge of when the bus came it seemed more stressful? Who knows. Sometimes the kids watch more PBS, the girls get their piano practicing sometimes, and most often Preston and Addie play in Addie's room and Ella reads.
After we drop off the girls, Preston and I either head back home and wait for his turn to go to school or we are off to the gym. I think we all look forward to Saturday and Sunday though where we have more leeway in what we do when we wake up :-).
and more phone pics from the rest of last week...
It actually felt "cool" after school Tuesday so we stayed to play a bit
More picture from Preton's "little" school teacher
Addie started a new art class on Wednesdays. This time we pretended she was already 7 so she could do a painting class :-). She loves it so far!
Waiting in the car pool line to drop off Preston Thursday morning. We both decided we don't like the line in the morning so I walk him in now.

Preston's next First Day

Tuesday, the 10th, was Preston's first day at his "big" school. His friend from church, Ryan, is in his class so we met up to take a couple pictures before heading in. He ran right into the room and got to work playing, not even paying attention to me when I tried to tell him bye. Preston was SUPER excited to finally get to play on the cool playground at this school :-)and had A LOT to say about the day when I picked him up that afternoon. It is going to be one fun year for this little guy!!!
After school I told him we could go get some ice cream or any treat he wanted and he picked a donut, which was a little sad for me because I was excited for something else. But it was his first day, so he won :-).
Lauren came prepared with a cute sign for the boys to hold :-)
