HALLOWEEN 2013!!!

After a fun day at school for all the kiddos (Preston with his donuts with dad and the girls getting to wear their jammies), they were SO excited for the fun to begin. The girls got to skip piano which they were excited about and they all relaxed and watched a movie while we waited for evening time to arrive. Finally it was time to head to Nana's house for our traditional taco soup dinner. Nana always has plenty of other yummy food as well and the kids also got to decorate sugar cookies. It's fun to all get together each year and the kids really love our little routine. We eat dinner there, get our costumes on and do trick or treating in their neighborhood for a bit, then we head back to our house to hand out candy. I really think they love passing out candy as much as they do going door to door. It was pouring rain almost all day long, but we lucked out and it stopped in time for us to enjoy a very pleasant Halloween night. (Kayley was super sick all day but Scott still brought Oliver and Eloise over for the fun)

I don't know what exactly you would call my relation to him :-), but my mom's cousin John (son of my grandma's brother) has been in Houston lately so we have been able to get to know him and he was able to come celebrate with us too.

I was trying to copy Kayley's mustache for Ollie and he laid sooo still for me. So cute.

Quite a few houses gave the kids hand fulls of candy and then one house came back out with 3 little mini Coca Colas for the kids. This was THE highlight of trick or treating for them. I made them wait until the next day to drink them and they were sooo excited :-). Here they are doing cheers (light provided by grandad's flashlight :-).

We went to check out the firetruck when we were done trick or treating
(Preston was just chilling in there for a long time).

And then it was back home to pass out candy. You should have heard how the kids bombarded everyone who came to the door :-). Ella was holding the bowl trying to give out the candy and glow bracelets while Preston would say loudly over and over, "2 glow bracelets and one candy!!! You can take 2 glow bracelets and one candy!!!" and Addie would be talking over him saying, "You can have 3 things!!! Any three things!!!" And Ella would just be giving them out anyway so it didn't really matter what the other two were saying. Haha. They took the job seriously!
I was impressed by the quality of candy we got this year. Tons of yummy chocolate and hardly any of the cheap filler candy. We waited until after the weekend to leave the remaining candy out for the Great Pumpkin and he brought us Monsters University in return. Good trade :-)!
