Disney: ANIMAL KINGDOM

We debated about which park to go to for our 2nd day and after hearing so many good things about the Animal Kingdom we decided to try it out. It is the one Disney park I hadn't been to before, so I was just as excited as the kids. The park was SOOO empty! It was awesome!!!
And we got our one family shot at Disney on our way into the park.

Our first stop was to Expedition Everest and we LOVED it...well, everyone but Preston. When we got off and realized there was still NO line we went again. I bought the picture from the 2nd time through because it showed how we all felt about it perfectly. Everyone having a blast (Ella with her hands up, Addie yellingthe whole time "I LOVE roller coasters!!!") and poor Prest covering his little face. Later in the afternoon we made him go on it one last time using fast passes. It is seriously so fun! It is worth going to the park for that ride alone.

Then we headed over to the Dinoland. Mike took the girls on the Primeval Whirl and I went with Preston on TricerTop Spin (and got fast passes for later). Then we traded because Addie really wanted me to go on the roller coaster :). We all headed over to Dinosaur which was like being in Jurassic Park, and then headed to the playground for a snack and some downtime waiting for the Nemo show to start.

We headed back to Everest after the show and poor Preston really, really didn't want to go on it again. So I did what any good parent did and bribed him with a yummy ice cream cone if he would go just ONE more time :-). I should have gotten a picture of them eating their cones. They were huge and the ice cream was really good.
There was a bird show Addie really wanted to go to but we had a little time to kill before that so we started walking through some of the animal exhibits. The park was filling up more by this point though and it was basically a crowded zoo so we didn't last long before heading back to the bird show and just waiting for it to start. We had front row seats and Addie LOVED it (we all liked it, but birds are probably her 2nd favorite animals after cats).

We made our way to "Africa" for the safari ride, which was pretty cool, and then rode the train for a bit. Our last stop was to the Bugs Life 4D movie and then we hurried off to the airport to head home. I think there was only one show we didn't see, but otherwise we were able to get all the things done that we wanted to by 3:30pm when we left.
School had been cancelled in Houston this day (1/28) because of ice so I was a little nervous we would be stuck in Orlando an extra day, but everything was fine. We were back home that evening and quickly got the kids in bed so they could head to school the next day.
It was a perfect little getaway! I'm ready for another one :-).
