Monterey Bay Aquarium

Finally the day Addie had been waiting for arrived...we were going to the "HUGE aquarium" :-).
Tuesday, the 15th, we were up early to have our breakfast at the hotel and then headed to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to be there right when it opened. It was definitely huge and impressive!!! It was also crazy crowded, but overall we were able to still see the things we wanted to see. The kids made sure we didn't miss one exhibit and loved checking out all the strange ocean creatures. I think the jellyfish and the open ocean feeding were two of the favorites of the day.
Also, I have a new obsession with jellyfish after this trip...I could have watched them for hours.
On our way back to the car we stopped and had dessert at Ghiradelli. I was so excited that we still got to enjoy this yummy treat on our trip.
Next stop...Pismo Beach.

Playing in Monterey

We got to Monterey right around dinner time (as we pulled in Preston got car sick). We stopped by the hotel to check in and bring our bags in and then checked out the beach that was around the corner. There was a little group of dolphins jumping around that were so cute! The kids really, really wanted to stay and play on the beach but we assured them we would be having our beach day soon (where it is warm!).
From there we headed to get some crazies out. My old roommate Caroline told me about Dennis the Menace park and the kids had a blast there! It was huge, the weather was cool and it was a great place to play before dinner.
For dinner we decided to check out a pizza place (Gianni's) that was another recommendation from a friend. They had gluten-free crust, so I got to have a deluxe-a-pizza...yum! We all got super stuffed and then headed back to the hotel...we were TIRED!
