Hot Air Balloons and the Provo Parade

The next morning was the 4th of July!!! Although it was a little strange to not be home for the 4th this year, without Scotto there to put on our fireworks presentation it wasn't quite so hard to leave :-). I was really looking forward to being in Provo for all of their 4th of July festivities.
Mike headed out with Heber to save spots for the parade at 7am (I had no idea what a big deal this parade is! Mike and I can't figure out how we missed it when we lived there) and I took the kids to check out the hot air balloons a bit before that. Unfortunately we were about 5 minutes too late to park and catch the actual taking off up close, but we did drive by right as the last few were leaving and got a pretty good view. It was still pretty cool to see so many right above you and some would swoop in over the crowd which was fun. It's crazy how huge they are up close...and how little those baskets are!
From there we headed over closer to where the guys were waiting for the parade to begin. We ran into a 7-Eleven to use a bathroom on the way and the kids were excited to get balloons. Ella was the only one with hers by the time we made it to where Mike was though :-). Preston lost his first when he let go of it and was immediately crying. Addie was so sweet to offer hers to him. He declined though and hers ended up popping on a tree as we continued our walk.
We hung out a bit and then Chalonn arrived with their kids. Ella and London were especially excited to see each other again :-). The best part of the Provo parade was the pre-parade that entertained us while waiting for the real deal. The kids got lots of candy, danced around and Preston even karate-chopped a board in half, which made him feel like a super hero! The parade itself was fun, but LOOONG. There were some cool floats and mostly lots of just ok bands and floats. We were all ready for it to be over before it actually was :-). All the Provo missionaries walked in it though and it was pretty cool to see them...there were TONS!!!

Preston looks so sweet in this picture, but he really was a bit of a nightmare for me here. He would scream "Nooo!!!" if I told him to come by us, wouldn't willingly hold my hand (and there were tons of people and cars), and sat down and threw a fit on more than once occasion. I think it was a combo of not enough sleep and being restrained in the car for two days, but it was not fun while it lasted.
