The second half of the day we headed over to Old Town San Diego. I don't remember this area at all, but quite a few people told us it was fun and we should check it out. We started out at the Mormon Battalion Historic Site, which was so well done! At the end they had a bunch of hands on activities for the kids, including panning for gold where the kids could take home their favorite piece. I think it would be such a fun mission to be called to. They spend half of their time in the visitors center doing these fun interactive tours and then the other half proselyting. From there we walked over to the old town center and walked around a bit. We went into a few little museum type buildings, checked out what people were making at little stations and then spent the rest of our time waiting for and getting silhouettes done. They were so cheap I couldn't resist ($3!) but as you can see in the pictures, you get what you pay for and they look nothing like my children :-). It was still a fun experience though. As we were heading out we passed an author having a book signing. She happened to have a book about a cat, and I cannot resist a new book, especially with the author right there to sign it, so we bought it :-). We stopped and got dinner at a little taco shop, where we ordered way too much food again. It was really good though so it was worth it! Then it was back to hang at the hotel for one more night. There was a baseball team staying at the hotel and a couple of the boys were so sweet with Preston and let them play with them for awhile. Now Preston wants to play, so we will be trying that out this year :-). It was a nice last day in San Diego! We were definitely sad to say goodbye to the perfect weather!
