Day at the Museum, Part I: Houston Museum of Natural Science

Every September the kids and I skip a day of school and head downtown to visit the museums when they are nice and NOT busy! We didn't make it until Friday, September 19th, this year and went to the Museum of Natural Science and the Children's Museum. The days leading up to Friday there had been lots of rain, and Friday it was POURING for hours, all morning long. We stopped by Chickfila for breakfast and I was starting to get nervous that we may encounter flooded roads as we got into the city. I am always worried that I will become one of those "idiots" who gets stuck in the water and ruins their car :-). We decided to go for it after having Mike double check for news of flooding online and luckily we made it safe and sound!
It is so nice to have the place basically to yourself...definitely worth skipping a day of school! It was even more fun because friends were able to meet up with us for this first part of the day. We did all our exploring, loaded up on lunch at the museum and then headed over for part two of our adventure.
