Spring Break Adventure 2 - Battleship Texas and San Jacinto Monument

On Wednesday, the 11th, we said our goodbyes to the Oliversons and the kids and I headed out on an adventure with Emily, Brooklynn and Ian. It was another gross day weather-wise, but for what we were doing it worked out fine...and we didn't get rained on, so we counted it as a win! We have really been terrible about visiting all the Houston touristy sites, so we are trying to get with it! Emily is a great tour guide :-). We stopped by the San Jacinto Battle Monument first to watch a video on the history of the area and then walk through the museum. You can also go up to the top of the monument but it was so cloudy we were told the visibility wouldn't be great so we decided to skip it and use the money towards lunch instead :-). From there we headed down the road to the Battleship Texas. The kids really loved walking all around and exploring the ship. Addie got a little claustrophobic in the lower levels, but if she just went up for some "cold air" for a minute she was good to go again. Preston really misses Ian so it was fun for them to get to spend a whole day together! We were all starving by the time we were done and headed to the Monument Inn. It was a fun little restaurant that bring you rolls and cinnamon rolls while you wait for your food...a definite hit with the kids. We even took a ferry before heading home! Quite an eventful day!
