Early Easter and Off to Atlanta we Go!

After sticking around for spring break we were all itching to get out of town and be in true vacation mode for awhile. Mike was able to find a super deal on plane tickets, so we all flew to Atlanta for a 5 day break. The main purpose of the trip was to attend the Monday practice round of the Masters in Augusta, GA but we had tons of fun in Atlanta leading up to that. Who knew it is such a fun city?!
Friday, April 3rd, the kids had the day off of school for Good Friday and we were flying out at noon. The Easter bunny came early, we got ready loaded up and hit the road to the airport.
Once we arrived our first order of business was eating :-). We went to check out The Colonnade, a restaurant that had been featured on the Food Network. There is a different cook there now, so it wasn't exactly what we had seen, but it did have good classic southern food. We got fried chicken, pot roast and tried all the classic sides as well.
From there we stopped by Piedmont Park on our way to meet up with some old friends from Houston for dessert. The park was so beautiful!!! I was ready to move just based on the photo ops alone :-). Not to mention it was nice a big and less crowded that Hermann Park in downtown Houston. The weather was absolutely perfect.
And then we got to hang out with the Fitzgibbons for a bit...and eat yummy ice cream at Jeni's Scoop Shop. It was fun to catch up with them and see the kids all grown up. Ashley and Addie nearly share the same birthday and we did joint little parties for them and a couple other friends when they turned one and two. Crazy that they are now 8 years old!!!
