Easter at Zoo Atlanta

After our fun day at the aquarium we were even more excited to spend Easter at Zoo Atlanta! We got there as soon as it opened and for the first hour we felt like we had the entire place to ourselves! It stayed fairly empty a couple more hours and then things started to get crazy. It was another gorgeous day weather-wise...a bit chilly in the morning and then perfect as the sun warmed things up. The animals were all super active that morning, which was such a treat! The pandas were walking around and being fed, all the animals had cute Easter treats in their homes and the monkeys and gorillas were especially entertaining. We were cracking up watching one crazy little monkey who reminded us all of Preston :-). I wish I had gotten more of him on video but we were enjoying the moment so much I didn't think about it. He was totally harassing the other monkeys by trying to pull their tails, etc. And he also was playing with a little rock like it was a ball for awhile before he accidentally threw it through the chain link fence. We had a hard time forcing ourselves to leave him! We also went to the bird show and bought a ride pass so the kids could go on the train, the carousel and climb up a huge netted enclosure to go down a super long slide. We had been planning to hang around for another show at 2pm, but it was getting super crowded so we decided to head out for our Easter dinner early.
planning our route while we finished buying tickets :-)
Preston was super cute about wanting to be our guide using the map while we were here.

We were waiting for this red panda to look up at us again so I could get a picture because his face was so cute but he was super sneaky about it!

Before this bird was brought out we were told to hide any food because he will go right for it. We had been snacking on popcorn waiting for the show to start and there was a little dropped one by Addie's feet that he made a bee-line for! Mike ended up putting the popcorn bag in the back of his shirt because the bird seriously was so good at finding it!

They were going to make Mike and I pay to go on the train, so we decided if they want the kids without us, go for it :-). We enjoyed our few minutes of peace and quiet!
