Georgia Aquarium and Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Site

We were up bright and early on Saturday, the 4th! We had early bird passes to the Georgia Aquarium and took full advantage exploring all the exhibits before it got CRAZY (at which point we were all done and headed out of there)! The aquarium itself was really well done, but the highlight was the amazing dolphin show. They didn't allow any photography during it but it was of Disney caliber...singing, acting, light and sound effects, cool dolphin tricks, etc. The girls and I sat in the splash zone (although near the top of it) while the boys opted to sit a few rows higher in a safe zone. During the show the bottom rows were getting soaked and I was quietly laughing at them until one dolphin came and aimed right at the middle section where we were and totally got us. The girls loved it :-)! Our other favorite part of the aquarium was an interactive section where your group is given an ipad and you use it to complete different missions and learn about sea life. The kids loved having their turn being in charge of the ipad and it was a great way to end our time at the aquarium.

This was a little station where you took pictures of yourself and could choose a border and have it emailed to you. Preston accidentally took the one of Mike walking over and it just makes me laugh so I saved it :-).

We were the first ones in line for the dolphin show because without crowds we were able to go through the exhibits fairly quickly, but this was the crowd waiting to come in by the time it was almost show time! And when we came out of the show the entire aquarium was INSANE!!! So glad we enjoyed it in peace and quiet!

This ipad section (which I cannot remember what it was called) had just recently opened so it was a perfect thing to do after the show.

We were in line for the 4D movie for about 5 minutes when they announced they were having technical issues so we decided to head to lunch instead.

I found Daddy D'z BBQ Joint while searching for good places to eat in Atlanta. It was my favorite food of the trip. Awesome ribs, spicy sauce, good sides and the homemade strawberry cake was to die for!

After lunch we headed to check out the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical site. The line to go through his birth home was really long (coincidentally we were there on the anniversary of his death) but we walked through the museum, saw the tombs and played at the playground there. I would have liked to spend more time in the museum watching the video clips playing in each section, but it was getting late and the kids were getting restless. It was a beautiful day and pretty awesome to be there on a day with such significant meaning.

Addie instantly fell in love with this beluga whale at the Aquarium and picked it as her souvenir for the trip. I think she named him winter.
And Kayley checked on our cats and sent a couple pictures that the kids were excited to see :-). We crashed when we got back to the hotel!
