Where did it go?!

Since October is only days away from being over, I decided to take a break from editing to get some of our monthly moments blogged.
The first half of October our amazing weather continued and we loved it!!!
This year with the kids all being older we are involved in more activities than ever before, but so far it is going fine and the kids really enjoy them (although it does cut into free time at home). We were able to sneak in some park visits though and got our Halloween decorations up, adding some new ones to the mix. Ella had her first races of the short course season, Preston is a reading machine and Addie spends every free moment and dollar on rainbow loom creations. Baseball has been on the TV all month and I've been editing away like a mad woman, but all in all things haven't been too stressful. We have our routine down and we have even been doing well with cooking most our dinners at home. Bedtime has gotten progressively later though and that is something that will hopefully be easier to improve on once the time changes and it's dark before dinner.
Here are the highlights of the first 10 days of October...

Taylor Swift's 1989 Concert!

I have a zillion other things I should be doing right now, but I needed to get this all off my phone and then it made me want to go back and do it all over again, so I figured I might as well relive it through blogging :-).
It has been nearly an entire year since we got tickets to Taylor Swift, so to have the day finally arrive was pretty exciting! She ended up adding a Houston date after we got good tickets for the Dallas show and she was here last month so it got the girls even more excited to go because so many kids at school had already seen her. She played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas where the Cowboys play and that place is MASSIVE!!! I have never been in an arena so huge. It was a sold out show to 60,000 fans...and we were lucky enough to have 3rd row seats. As the concert got closer Ella mentioned wanting to touch her again (when we saw her two years ago) and we had to explain how that had been a once in a life-time moment :)...it was seriously crazy! This year with her stage set-up she had herself a little more separated from the fans.
Saturday, Oct 17th, was the big day! We arrived in Dallas early enough to grab some In N Out quickly before heading to the stadium. Mike had managed to get the VIP packaged seats again so we only had a small window to enter and since I had shoots all morning, we had been a little stressed about making sure we made it. But we did! We got in, bought our merchandise with no lines and then headed to the VIP area to hang out. The food was better this time (southern style) but Ella was disappointed there was no photo booth again :-). We hung out, went to check out our seats and then went back to the VIP area for the raffle. We were completely stuffed and ready for the show by the time we headed down to our seats for good.
This was Addie's first concert ever and she LOVED it! It was so cute watching her take it all in! Having two openers was a little much for her, but once Taylor started she smiled and sang along the entire show (with one break resting on Mike). Ella was dancing and singing the whole time too. Taylor puts on an AMAZING show, but it was hard to not just watch the girls watching it all!
Another fun thing to watch was crazy fans being brought down to the front row. Taylor doesn't sell the first row of seats and has people walking around in the super high ones looking for the most devoted fans. The lucky few who were selected would walk up to the front row SOOO excited and often crying that they were going to be so close to her. I loved watching it! One group literally sobbed the entire show.
Taylor also has had a special guest for each city of her tour so we were so curious who ours would be and were pleasantly surprised when Ellie Goulding came out to sing her hit song. The dancers, the lights, the moving stage, the fireworks, the confetti at the end...it was AMAZING!!! And to see her so close as she was doing it all is seriously the best! So, in summary, Mike is the best for making it happen :-)!
(the camera I borrowed ran out of batteries during the first song, but my phone actually did a pretty good job for the rest of the concert)
