Port 1: Cozumel, Mexico (A Day with Dolphins)

Our first stop on the cruise was in Cozumel.
We ended up docking almost 3 hours later than we were supposed to and although they pushed back the time we needed to get back on the boat that evening, we still lost quite a bit of time. The good news was that we were still able to get our excursion in...especially since this was the one Ella was most excited about during our planning...swimming with the dolphins!
The dolphin company (Dolphin Discovery) would not let me book privately with them, so this was the one excursion we booked through the cruise. As a result there was the most waiting around for this one, but given our late arrival it was also nice to know the ship was taking care of communication with them.
We waited to get off the boat, waited to get guided to the transportation vans, waited for a van, waited for our turn with the dolphins, etc. The experience with the dolphins really was amazing though and made up for it!!!
The water here was the most beautiful we saw (so clear and so many cool fish we could see even from up on the dock) and if we ever do another cruise that ports in Cozumel we will just get our own taxi to Chankanaab Beach Adventure Park (info) and hang out there! Oh, and there was a little sea lion show we were able to catch before the dolphin experience.
Preston had been a little nervous about the dolphins but ended up doing great! All three were able to do both the tricks with the two dolphins at the end really well and even though they were expensive, I'm glad we have the pictures of them with the dolphins to look back on. After the dolphins we also got to feed a manatee and give him some love and that was really cool too...they are crazy looking animals.
Ella and Addie both picked out souvenirs at this stop, we grabbed some nachos from the food stand near by really quickly and then it was back to the boat!
Since it was still a little early when we got back and they already had their suits on we went up to the pool for a bit while a band played before getting showered and ready for dinner that night. It was a fun first excursion day!

One of the perks of not bringing my huge camera on the excursions is that the kids could take turns taking pictures as well. They loved it.

This last trick was everyone's favorite part! It seriously was amazing to do it and feel like you could start working at Sea World :-). Mike and I did all the experiences as well...we just didn't pay for the pictures of us ;).
