Early Christmas

Our kids were quite concerned that we would not be home for Christmas...because we have ALWAYS been at our house for Christmas morning. Ella is definitely our kid that loves traditions and she was worried about missing out on all our usual holiday rituals. We tried to get in all the biggest ones before we left and then we hosted a family party at our house the night before we left, December 16th. We were all packed for our trip and ready to go for the most part, had Zoe's cater dinner, and my mom brought homemade cookies for dessert (along with peppermint blue bell ice cream) so it was simple and stress-free. The cousins got to exchange presents and our kiddos got to open the rest of their gifts from my side of the family...an important thing not to miss out on ;-). It will be strange to miss the actual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day festivities and not be with family, but so far we are definitely having an amazing time in the DR!

Also, in the days before the party Ella had a fun swim party with her Silver group and Mike got a teeny little drone when we went into Academy for a backpack...definitely an impulse buy at the checkout counter, but one he and the kids have been having lots of fun with :-).
