Zipline Day!

1-3-16-11
On Tuesday, January 3rd, we were off to go zip-lining! I thought it was part of the lodge initially but found out later that we were going to be taken down the mountain to the town of Sosua to a place called Monkey Jungle. We opted to just do the ziplines and skip the monkey part...we did something similar in Honduras and they don't even have monkeys in the DR so it seemed a little weird to me :-). The ziplines themselves were pretty good! There were 7 lines, a couple that were really long and beautiful. Going ziplining has become a kind of tradition for us in a new country because we all love it and you get to take in the pretty scenery of the area at the same time. Based on the vegetation at Tubagua I was expecting it to be a little more jungle like, but it was beautiful all the same. We all had a great time and everyone even tried the drop where you free-fell off a ledge for a few seconds.
After we were done we drove over to the town of Cabarete to have lunch. This town is a kind of hippy, surfer town and due to all the tourists has some yummy and different food options. One of the workers at the lodge told us about a few options there and we decided to try Gordito's Fresh Mexfood. Our driver Luis was able to find it and it was really, really a delicious treat! Guacamole, fish tacos, ground beef tacos...it all tasted a little like home. It was even set up like a Cafe Rio or Chipotle. With our bellies full we made the drive back to the eco-lodge (about an hour) to hang out the rest of the afternoon.
The kids ran around the property, caught more insects, played with the hotel pets, read, played games, I caught up on journaling our trip, etc. Before we knew it the day was over and dinner had arrived. It wasn't quite as amazing as the night before, but still was good :-). I had a bit of a hard time going to bed so early but when you are all in one big room there isn't much of a choice. We definitely caught up on some needed sleep here.

Preston went with a guide since he is so light and was sure to get stuck on the longer lines and ended up with a different group part of the time which was frustrating for me because I wanted to see him! He loved that he got to cut in line though haha.
