Jackpot!

Mike did another round of special dates with the kids and Addie and Preston both chose to go to Times Square when it was their turn. Preston went first and Mike hit the jackpot on a game, winning 1,000 tickets! Preston was SOOOO excited and talked about it for days. Going into Addie's date Mike was really trying to prepare her that they wouldn't win the jackpot again...and what happened?! They won the jackpot on a different game and she had 1,000 tickets too! Lucky kiddos! Ella chose a Cici's pizza date :-).

There was lots more of the usual...cool Addie projects, the weather not cooperating on my photo shoot days, after school sports and activities, trip planning, YW activities, etc.

Addie's TWI classes had a surprise party for her English teacher and I went to help out a little. It was so cute to see how thrilled the kids were about it. They had all brought in treats, made her cards and couldn't contain their excitement waiting for her to come in. It has been such a great year at school for Addie and it is almost entirely thanks to her two wonderful teachers.

Stormy afternoons have meant some extra free time in our evenings which has been awesome. One night when both soccer and swimming ended up cancelled Mike and I snuck off for a quiet dinner at a yummy French restaurant.

Preston as Steve Jobs

4-11-17-7
It was once again time for the 2nd graders to have their Living Museum where they each represent a famous person from history. This is one of my favorite projects our kids have done because they look adorable and they do all the preparation at school ;-). When going through the list of people with Preston and telling him what each person is known for, it was an easy decision for him as soon as he heard Steve Jobs and i-Pad in the same sentence haha. He did an awesome job and even got to bring the i-Pad as part of his costume so he was in heaven :-).
To think this is our last time having a child doing this is pretty crazy! I couldn't resist watching Ella as Ruby Bridges and Addie as Alma Flor Ada again. It is fun to have a little memory of each child at the exact same age!

One thing I have really loved about Preston's English teacher for him this year is that she loves electronics as much as Preston and has the students use them often. Along with the speeches they wrote, they also created a power point presentation and poster of their person. I love hearing Preston's voice during the power point (even if his facts aren't always correct)...so cute!

Florida 15th Anniversary Trip ~ St. Augustine

4-8-17-28
After taking our time getting up and ready Saturday morning, and loading up on another big breakfast (this time at Village Inn, where Mike and I first hung out after our blind date) we drove to St. Augustine. I could not wait to FINALLY meet our niece Molly!!! It had been waaay too long! She was just as cute in real life as she is in pictures, which I didn't think possible. I didn't spend much time talking with the adults, or holding Molly even, because Marky and Bennett and I were having too much fun :-). It was a short visit but so nice to see Mack and Cheryl and their cute family. Hopefully it won't be so long between visits this time.

Our next destination was historic St. Augustine, but we made a little detour on or way there to stop by the country club where our wedding reception was held. This was another time where it was so strange to be there and have partial memories come through after all this time has gone by. It was also crazy to think about the family and friends from all over the country who had also been to this specific location that day. A fun walk down memory lane :-)!

And then we made it to St. Augustine! We have been back here many times since our wedding, but not with the specific goal of reliving past events. We knew we wanted to do the horse and carriage ride like we had done when Mike came out to Florida to meet my family for the first time (16 years ago!) and we were staying in the Casa Monica again.
We also walked down St. George street for awhile but it was crazy crowded so we escaped to Casa Maya for a nice dinner on the balcony. Their guacamole isn't as good as it used to be, but the meals were great and the location was definitely quieter than those off the main road.
Our carriage driver was hilarious and we had an awesome evening in St. Augustine. Such a fun little city...AND the oldest in the country :-)!

When Mike and I took that first carriage ride all those years ago the driver stopped by "the love tree" and told us if we kissed beneath it our love would last forever. As a hopeless romantic I was pretty excited that this magic might help me snag Mike forever ;-)...and it worked!

Day 3 Highlights...

Sadly our weekend was quickly over and Sunday morning it was off to the Jacksonville airport to head home again.

The kids had so much fun at my parents' house while we were gone and were sad to see us when we came back haha. Preston lost a tooth and saved it for when we got home (see the awesome note he left the tooth fairy below...she left him a note back with the standard $1), Ella got all caught up on Fuller House episodes using their Netflix and the other two spent equal amounts of time fighting and being best friends like usual. My parents even survived Preston's soccer team picture day before his game. We are so thankful our parents are willing to help us out and give us some kid-free time occasionally! It is such a treat.
