Yesterday we got to celebrate not only Preston's real birthday, but his baptism as well. He was pretty excited that he was going to be baptized on his actual birthday and in Nana and Grandad's pool (he asked me more than once if anyone else in our family had been baptized in a pool and was so excited that he was the very first one).
It was so nice to do the baptism at my parents' home and just have the people closest to us there. Preston had asked his two grandfathers, Grandad and Papa, to speak about baptism and the Holy Ghost and then Mike baptized him and confirmed him. It was a special afternoon for our special little guy and he really seemed to pay attention during almost the entire thing...which is miraculous haha.
We headed over to our house for the birthday party from there. I have really gotten better over the years at just keeping things simple, mostly thanks to Mike :-). For Preston's first birthday I remember slaving away in the kitchen the entire day before his party making 4 different kinds of homemade enchiladas, homemade salsa and all kinds of other things to go with the fiesta. But this year with family from both sides coming to celebrate again I was able to enjoy it much more! Preston wanted pizza so we ordered different kinds, bought some fruit, veggies and soda and called it good. Clean up was easy and the whole event was low stress as it should be!
Preston had so much fun playing with his cousins all afternoon and drinking Fanta :-). He was spoiled with lots of love, attention and Pokemon gifts...all his favorite things. We are so thankful that we were able to have almost all our family members from both sides here with him on his big day and missed those that couldn't come! He is one lucky guy!
I love that we have a picture of Addie's scary face now! Hopefully she will stop doing this soon and we will look back on this picture and laugh :-).
