Relaxing Yelapa Style

For our first full day in Yelapa all we wanted to do was relax! We had a lazy morning and then walked down to the main beach where we planned to spend most the day lounging and reading. While looking through the info the hotel left us the night before we noticed massages were quite cheap so Mike emailed our hotel owner about setting some up later in the afternoon. We kept our fingers crossed she could set it up last minute and headed to the beach.
We ate breakfast at Domingo's and loved it. It was delicious and their lounge chairs were the first ones when walking to the beach from town so it was convenient too. There were quite a few tour groups arriving from Puerto Vallarta during the day, but they all seemed to have contracts with the restaurants a bit further down the beach which left our little end pretty quiet and empty. The water was a perfect temperature and got deep really quickly which was perfect for cooling off when needed. The famous pie lady even made her rounds while we were there so we were able to try her lemon meringue (delish!) and her chocolate (pretty good).
While at the beach we heard back that our massages were booked! $40/1 hour on our balcony...amazing! We were so excited :-)!
When we left the beach we decided to walk back into town and check out the waterfall. There are actually two in the area, but one is literally in town and really easy to get to (we never made it to the other one this trip unfortunately). The pool of water was teeny, but the falls themselves were quite pretty and by the time we made it to them we couldn't wait to get in and cool off.
The day ended with us each getting an hour massage and then heading to dinner at los Abuelos where we tried literally everything on the menu :-). The surprise hit was octopus tacos!
Overall the day was amazing! I do have to note that because of the heavy rains the day before there was a sudden boom of flies and they drove me nuts! They were pretty bad during our breakfast at the beach but were even worse at dinner that night. Luckily, by the next day they were pretty much gone because I couldn't take them anymore!

I loved that even with all the beautiful vegetation naturally growing everywhere, every single little house had pots and pots of flowers and plants
