Ella at TAGS, part 2 (end of Long Course Season)

Saturday (the 29th) was definitely the best day of TAGS for Ella, and also the longest. We didn't finish with the prelims session until almost 1pm and then had to be back at 4:15pm for finals...but the good news was that we had to be back at finals! The only individual event Ella had that day was 100 breaststroke and it has typically been her very strongest event. She got her first and only AA as a 10&under on that event and it was her first 11/12 AA as well. My parents and Kayley and Scott and their kiddos were there for the race and it was such a good one to be at! Ella dropped time and finished 14th! That's 14th in the state of Texas! And it also meant she qualified for the B final that evening. She swam the first leg on the 200 Free relay and we were really hoping she would get a good time on it since it would count as an official individual time. She swam well, but not a PR. The kids who were racing everyday were definitely starting to look a little more tired by this point.
Kayley and her crew headed out but my parents stayed in Austin to cheer on Ella during the finals so we all went and had a yummy Mexican lunch before trying to get a little rest in at the hotel and then heading back to the pool. Ella swam a good race in finals, but added time and finished 16th. She was disappointed but we told her she should just be so proud to have made finals at TAGS! Plus, she gets a ribbon still...always a good thing :-). By the time the night was over I was feeling very thankful we only had one more day left to go in the meet!

Ella had some fun with the goPro in the warm-up pool after :-).

Sunday we were back at for one more day! Ella swam 200 breast and the 200 Medley relay. We were pretty excited for 200 breast after how well she did the day before but she ended up adding a little time. She really had wanted to break 3 minutes but still placed 24th so couldn't be too disappointed. She also had a good split on her 50 fly during the medley relay (a PR) and it was a great way to end the meet. Although we would have been thrilled if she had made finals again, it actually turned out for the best because we were able to get a good chunk of driving in that evening as we headed out on the loooong road to California.
200 Breast
seed time: 3:00.33
this race: 3:01.69

So Ella ended the meet with 3 top 20 finishes and 1 in the top 25. Not too bad ;-)!

a yummy lunch at Home Slice before loading up the car and hitting the road!

Also, they had a photographer at TAGS that we had take some pictures of Ella. So fun to have some good shots of her in action during this big moment!
What a crazy exciting long course season it was for Ella!!! She did so much better than we ever imagined and we loved watching her succeed. She is such a dedicated and hard worker and we are so proud of her!
Just for our records, here are the amazing times she ended her season with...
